Congratulations on your one year anniversary.

+1@ time flying by quickly. There were more than a few slow days in my working life, but not so many since then. Where has the time gone? :)

Thanks. I don't have a clue where the time has gone. But I do know that I haven't accomplished anything during that time.

I have been prepping my RV and the toad for another trek soon. This one will last 2 months, and includes two 1-week stays at timeshare units for which we have exchanged ours.

The RV is at 51K miles, so I have been thinking about changing the transmission filter and AT fluid. Am I too hopeful to expect that changing from Dexron III to Dexron IV will get me a tiny bit better mpg?

By the way, the market closed today due to Good Friday holiday. With no stock market, it made me feel like it's Saturday.

PS. Oops. Make that Dexron VI, as there is no Dexron IV, nor V.

Well, then, I'd say "Mission accomplished"!

Seriously good news yesterday from the doctor.
After looking at my MRI, he changed his opinion and I won't be needing knee surgery after all. What a huge load off my mind!

That is good news.

I go to the orthopedic specialist for the first time ever for my knee on Tuesday. Hope mine turns out as good as yours.

Hand washed the car, changed the oil and filter, reset Oil Minder message, checked air pressure in tires, and cleaned my workbench. ;)

Real estate guy came to house, we filled out forms, put sign in front yard.

Rolled out a little before 5 am to enjoy the lunar eclipse, beautiful. Amazing how bright the growing crescent sliver seemed when the moon slowly started reflecting light my way again.Today was the first farmers market of the year, stopped by for a dozen duck eggs, then off to free dump day to get rid of some tree trimmings. Relaxing with a Deschutes Black butte Porter.

Enjoyed a fun day with my daughter, her friend, and her friend's mom. We made wood plant stands with the girls, took them to an indoor bounce house, went out to lunch, then ice cream. Then came home and planted a few new indoor plants that we picked up at the store.

Lollygagged in the morning with shopping in the afternoon. For dinner we took one of the kids out to an Italian restaurant for pizza and drinks. Tonight DH and I have a free Redbox movie - Guardians of the Galaxy.

I don't know what Redbox's business model is. I've paid a total of 54 cents now for 4 movies. I get free coupon codes in assorted newsletters quite often.

Leisurely Saturday morning full breakfast, enjoyed the quiet Saturday morning unfold from the back patio with some music playing on the rig, did some gardening and weeding, made a delicious dinner of wild sockeye salmon filets, wild rice, steamed veggies, and French bread.

Washed down with a delectably rich CA Zin.

Then watched the full moon rise before heading upstairs.

That's terrific, Khan! I know you have wanted to be rid of that house for years and years. Hope it will sell soon so that you can move on.

Drove forty five miles round trip for a cup of coffee. All shops in the nearby little town are closed, as were the ones in the next one over. Ended up 20 miles or so away where there was bookstore open with a coffee shop inside as well.

Bought a newspaper, spent a leisurely hour reading, shot the breeze with a few folks at a a nearby table. Observed the usual five or six medical students huddled around tables pushed together debating some fine points of medicine.

This is the place I usually stop for a brew after skating.

I got up early this morning to call the Louisiana Department of Revenue about my lower-than-expected tax refund. I had tried to call last week, but was unable to get through.

This morning I started my call earlier, and after 50 minutes I managed to get through. And then, was put on hold for a second person. Once I finally got through to the second person, she agreed I was right and the rest of my refund is on its way.

This is like David defeating Goliath! But I will try to contain my sense of victory until the money hits the bank.

All of this was before coffee due to the rush to call very early.

I'm still calling blue shield and covered ca to get the end date of my insurance fixed (I switched plans at the start of 2015) but BS still billed me for jan.

I violated one of my own rules about having direct payments from my bank account and BS withdrew Jan. payment before I put a stop to it (I just forgot).

Today is my first FIRE Monday. I'm traveling with DH who is on some contract work. He left the hotel this morning to do his thing and I've been doing mine. I went for a run, did yoga, shopped at Dick's Sporting Goods but didn't buy anything, and sat out in the sunshine and read for a couple of hours. Now I'm using Slingbox on my iPad to watch the opener for my beloved Phillies. It's been a wonderful day.

I hate, hate, hate calling government offices with a problem. For some reason I always assume that I have made the error. I lose sleep until the issue is resolved. Having a corporation, I have an accountant do my taxes. She takes care of calls like that. The small fee for my personal tax preparation is worth it for my peace of mind. Last year, my corporation was due a refund. When it failed to arrive, I asked my accountant to look into it. The refund had been sent to an old address, despite the fact that several tax returns had been submitted from the new one. The cheque was resent, but there was no apology and no interest was paid. If I had misdirected a cheque, I would have been paying penalties. Not fair!

I know they are busy but have a sneaky suspicion that they deliberately keep you waiting in the hope that you will go away. What was the reason they made a mistake, and how were you so confident that you should get a bigger refund, W2R?

Raked up some debris, leaves, from yard, broke off last year's flower stalks, took them all to recycling. Noticed my heat pump is leaning left now. It was leaning right 3 weeks ago, with ice heaving, I think. Called up dermatologist, tried to get some money back that I carelessly overpaid them. Woman on other end of phone kept stonewalling, finally she said "Oh, my goodness, you're right. Now I see the problem. We'll have a check out to you within a week". I believe her, but we'll see....

Made the morning coffee for DW before she headed off to work, packed up my son's lunch before heading off to school, enjoyed the rest of the coffee and an English muffin while watching the birds in the back yard.

Decided to head off to parts unknown to explore - took a scenic drive thru Fairbanks Ranch and Ranch Santa Fe on my way up to the Elfin Forest Preserve area for some hiking.

Whew - the Way Up Trail is steep and was a great cardio workout. But the views were worth it!

Drove back home to enjoy some left overs for lunch.

Then some afternoon gardening whilst sipping some cold refreshments.

Dinner is coming up soon - pastrami sandwiches and soup.

I pay quarterly estimated taxes four times each year. They said that I hadn't paid as much as I had. So, armed with confirmation numbers and screen captures, it was pretty simple to verify my four payments. Like you, I dislike calling government offices but this time it worked. :)

Got my Kansas email acceptance of electronic filing a few minutes ago - my check must clear before April 15. At age 71(21 years of ER) with a wife and Missouri farm (1/2 with her Brother) we now pay more in Fed and State taxes than yearly expenses per year the first ten years of ER.

So much for cheap - er frugal.

Daffodils and Tulips and Red Buds are in bloom here. She has already made two trips to the nursury for plants. Me - cleaning(de cluttering garage) and repainting sitting bench in back patio garden.

heh heh heh - and slacking getting ready for the game tonight even though I have no dog in the this fight.
