Is post #26 invisible too...

Don't know about him but I just log out to be invisible. Maybe he can't remember his password so he stays logged in all the time.

I wouldn't know. They're not around when you're not visible. That's the whole point.

I thought this was about the magical way we disappear to younger people (except when they want something).

If you scroll to the bottom of the screen while in a thread you can see who is viewing the thread. If you scroll to the bottom while in a forum or portal you will see who is on line. Except those users in invisible mode. Only useful if you care to not appear to be online, but since the majority of members probably don’t care or look to see if you are online it is of limited use.

So, it's for if you are one of those people who are up at 3 a.m. looking at the forum, and don't want other people, who are also up at that hour, knowing you are up at that hour. And are interested in that topic.

Hmmm. Wonder who decided to add that utility, rather than, say, a 500-message limit on stored PMs?

I remember playing Peek-a-Boo with babies...where you put your hands over your eyes and pretend to have disappeared...then whip them away......repeat without rinsing.

Can we get that?

Until recently I was on another forum where I used to view the Who's Online list to see what people are reading, mostly after I posted something that I wanted replies to. Once I found a visitor (someone not logged in) reading an old thread that sounded interesting so I clicked the thread and I replied to one of the posts. Not long after that the Who's Online section was removed from public view. My theory is the member who was reading that old thread got creeped out that I responded to it just after she read it and complained, or maybe it was a moderator who was reading it.

It's more likely that function was disable to speed up page loads and reduce server drag. That particular bit of info is server intensive. ...

I'd tend to agree - there was a practical reason.

While I don't doubt that a very suspicious or paranoid person might complain, I can't see a moderator doing anything about such a silly complaint except "there, there."

I thought this thread was going to be about people who pull out in front of you, or change lanes suddenly. Always happens when I'm in the Benz and not when I'm in my pickup.
