IPhone ER App Update - Too Cumbersome to Use
Got an automatic update to my IPhone which included an updated app for ER.org. It is too cumbersome to use relative to the old version. I don't see a way to roll back to older version so I won't be participating any longer via iPhone. That's a shame because I normally monitored the discussions via iPhone and only went to the computer to post. Oh well, "progress" leaves some of us behind. Hope others find the new app more useful than I. Signing off as a very active reader/user - Whisper66.

Other than the new ads, it seems to be okay to me. I'd find it easier to read if I could adjust the font size...cataracts are making it a bit more difficult to read.

How do I write a reply on my phone, but not finish it, then save for later? There is no longer a cancel button and "save draft" options.
I also think traffic is way down since the update. There are very few new posts or threads.

The + icon to the left of where you type the reply allows the option to cancel. Hitting cancel gives the option to save a draft or delete the draft.

I noticed this too - didn't think to connect it with the upgrade but that might well be the reason. People might be voting with their feet, but I'm not convinced the forum has any good way of responding. It'd be too bad if this trend continues

The app is a derivative of tapatalk and updated periodically by that developer. We have little control over this however - there is a lovely mobile view of the site that is pretty good - you might give that a whirl.
There is a link to that view in the lower left corner of the forum under "style chooser".

I find it cumbersome too and what's up with all the ads appearing as an ER thread? Very confusing.

IPhone ER App Update - Too Cumbersome to Use
The number of ads is getting ridiculous - in this thread almost every other article is a sponsored one

My concern with the update is that you no longer end up at the same place in a topic thread you were the last time you entered the site. Also, the updated app does not do a good job of tracking if you have read a thread or not.

Yes on both of those , in other words , it's buggier than the old one - it also crashes every once in a while

I'm on an iPhone SE with the latest update and I hate this version. I do spend less time here now.

Can we pay and make the ads go away? Also can't seem to make the default to only show the most recent posts (which I haven't read) without having to set the filter every time.

I found timeline on the updated app--way over in the right. I would also be willing to pay to make the ads go away.

Maybe that was the plan all along?

I had a little adjustment curve to go through at first, but now I find that the mobile app is ok. I normally just look at new posts on my phone or iPad. The app handles this quite well.

IPhone ER App Update - Too Cumbersome to Use
One of the biggest annoyances in the new app is that links in threads are no longer clickable. Web-view also seems not to work anymore (which was my first attempt at a work-around for the link issue). Anyone else seeing the same behavior?

The web interface works fine for me on the iPad - especially with some judicious pan and zoom.

I actually use the paid version of Tapatalk and do not see any ads.
