Night Mode Viewing with Android Phone

Is there a way to switch to Night mode viewing to darken the screen on the phone?

On my Samsung S22 go to settings>display>Dark mode settings>turn on then set your schedule as you like.

I did that, but the ER screen didn't go dark. It's still very bright!

Try turning on or off the adaptive mode for brightness? Disclaimer: I've never used dark mode.
