I'm back from vacation and weighed in again today... down 2.5 lbs! That makes a total of....

43 lbs lost so far!

I was just pleased to have kept losing over vacation, especially since two days of my vacation were described as "Eating my way through Portland, OR."

I did a pretty good job of it, too.

Congrats to all this week's losers! (And, frankly, to all of us for just showing up and slogging through it).

I'm amazed at those of you who lose weight on vacation - now that's determination! I'm going away the next 2 weekends and will be suffering all types of cook outs and dining out...scary...!

1lb improvement first week back. No bad I suppose, but only 2 weeks to go before the next long vacation :( Trying to exercise but my bruised ribs from a fall are making things very painful - sheesh, I sound like a real whimp!!

Well I am up half a pound since last week . I need to get seriously back on track .:(

Diet danger alert! Watch out for those lbs. that Calgary Girl and Urchina have lost (and now Alan's one lb.)--they are floating around just looking for someone to sneak back onto!

I saw that people who drink 2 cups of water before every meal lose more weight than people who didn't (and of course have higher water bills for two reasons :) )

To lose weight drink water before meals - UPI.com

And Moe, uh oh, my other completely off-the-wall diet danger is--people expand to fit their cars! So be extra vigilant because your new car, which I believe is bigger than your trade-in, is conspiring against you :)

 - just like checking your portfolio too often, I fully understand

I've found that eating an apple about 1/2 hour before meals helps me a lot, too.
And unlike water, doesn't rush right through. ;)
Also unlike water, has calories. Still, they're apple calories.
Adding caramel and nuts doesn't work quite the same way, though.

Have you now achieved your target weight?

Awesome, MillitaryMan--you have doubled my results in exactly the same time period. I bow to you!

Have you now achieved your target weight?

Thanks!

Yes, I am now back to the weight that I was when I enlisted in the Air Force at age 18.

I had put about 1-2 pounds on for 24 years since and decided one day that it was time to come off!

No fancy diet in a bottle or program followed. Check my progress below on the tracking website I used.

My methods were simple, restricting calorie intake to average 1200-1300 and daily brisk walking.

Tracked everything on militaryman - Member --- Never cheat (no taking a little of this or that without recording) and at the end of the day make sure I had not gone over calories. Using diet and exercise maintain a 1000-1500 cal. deficit. ( 2-3 lb loss a week)
Of course I found that eating really good foods and staying away from any junk was the best way to get the most out of the calories I alotted myself for the day. No sugar beverages, no cakes, cookies, candies etc while on weight loss regimine.

Week 1 (Aug. 5): Down 4.4 lbs
Week 2 (Aug. 12): Down 2.4 lbs

Week 4 (Aug. 26): Down 1.0 lbs (kind of a so-so week. I've been sick since Monday so no motivation to exercise at all. Hope to get back on the wagon next week when I'm hopefully feeling better ).

Total lost = 11.2 lbs
