Dawg, do you know how many calories you are shooting for? Are you giving yourself a midday (3 or 4 pm.) snack? (100-150 cal)?

Your breakfast and lunch sounds similar to what I would eat, and I'm pretty sure I need less calories than you. I'm just afraid you might be going at it too hard, starving yourself, and then you won't be able to stick with it.

Of course I could be wrong as you may be eating quite a bit more for dinner to make up for it! :)

Yeah, a snack is a good idea. Today with the National Championship game being played, I'm allowing for and extra med or two for the game.;)

Ruh-oh, that's not the kind of snack I was suggesting!

DH is partaking of some meds for the game tonight, too.

Target 175lbs

1/06 186.5
1/13 185.5

Mainly cutting back on sweets at this point. Cutting back on fried foods, although not totally. See how that goes and modify from there to reach my target. But I think my plan will work if I can get out and get more exercise. And it's starting to warm up a bit.

Having a very slow losing rate right now. Still can't make myself exercise. It's getting a little warmer here too, so maybe I will venture out into the cold someday soon.

Good start to the year weight-loss wise but I can't seem to get motivated to start exercising again. Too darn cold (even down here in the sun belt).

This last week I did yoga about 4 days and we went for a very chilly 60 minute walk around the frozen lakes at LSU on Sunday morning but that's not enough given the lack of exercise since Dec-16.

Stressful times are always bad for me when trying to lose weight as well.

Good luck with your move this Friday :flowers:

Good start - 1 more lb and you'll be in single figures away from reaching your target

Year to year weight

Just got to thinking about holiday weight gain - looked at this article (Holiday Weight Gain Slight, But May Last A Lifetime) which shows that people really do gain weight over the holidays, and most do not take it back off, so it just compounds year after year - resulting in increased weight gain as we age.

This ought to be motivation for us all to get that holiday weight off NOW!

I've been tracking my weight every week since 2002 on the same scale. Interesting pattern:

2002-2003: lost 3#
2003-2004: gained 9# (bad year, wow!)
2004-2005: lost 4#
2005-2006: lost 1#
2006-2007: gained 2#
2007-2008: lost 1#
2008-2009: lost 5#
2009-2010: lost 5#

Net gain/loss over 8 years: 8# loss

It's very motivating to try to weigh in less or at least the same as the prior year. If you make that yearly comparison January, then you have extra pressure to be "good" over the holidays.

Notice the last 2 years I have lost the most...I attribute it to 1) this board :greetings10: 2) finally found a diet plan that works 3) finally found an exercise that I love (dance fitness), AND 4) A nerve injury I have in my leg is finally significantly improved, allowing me to exercise harder.

Has anyone else tracked their weight year to year? Care to share?

Good idea and good article. This week I was clearing out my desk and threw away my Weight Watcher diaries that spanned 3 years, and I'm afraid since then I haven't kept a log until this Forum.

So, I only have 3 figures.

Jan 2003 - 210
Jan 2004 - 175
.
.
.
.
Jan 2010 - 179

Some ups and downs over the years but I know I never started a year after 2003 at a weight higher than 180. In 2003 I dropped all the way down to 168 but by Jan 2004 had come back up to 175 which is where I try and not go above.

Okay, I got intrigued by SG's post so I went and got out all my annual physicals at work that I still have. The physicals vary when they happened by a few weeks/months each year but are generally around mid year. Also, the weights include shoes and clothes unlike my weigh-in on Wednesday mornings that I post here.

Between 94 and 2003 I slowly put on 27lbs, then got serious and did WW at work, lost 43lbs and have slowly put 10lbs back on

A wake up call - need to double my efforts. I went and exercised tonight even though I was falling asleep when I got home and I feel much better for it.

Wow, really interesting! I am so glad my post has re-inspired you - I know it has made me want to redouble my efforts to take the few pounds off that I put on. I'm worried about maintenance, so I decided I needed to find a long-term way to keep myself inspired. I think this year to year comparison/goal may just do the trick.

I don't have any records here at home (doctor probably does). I know my all time high was about 195, maybe 10-12 years ago. I went from 150 to 195 during the first half of my married life, so I do know about creeping pounds. I had no idea that I looked so FAT until I saw a picture, that my daughter took, of me sitting on the ground, with my fat back and butt spread all over. That did it!

I started a self directed WW diet and lost 43 pounds. Then after my husband died and I retired, the creep of pounds started again. Went back up to about 170...now back down a little (current around 157).

I really have to watch maintenance this time. I feel so much better when I'm not walking around with all that extra weight not to mention the effect on my health.

 - I feel the same way about a photograph of me sitting on a diving board with my gut hanging over my swimming shorts. :yuk:

Have you considered putting a copy of that photo on the fridge door to help keep you motivated?

Hanging tough here. Just happy to still be maintaining. We moved from MS to AL Fri/Sat. Whew! Still trying to get out from under boxes. Finally have the pantry and kitchen set up and restocked, so able to get back on the diet plan instead of the "take-out" plan. LOL!

I've gotta be in a bikini in 2 weeks (going to visit out friends in Sarasota again)...so I'm hoping to lose a few pounds by then!

This past Sunday my daughter let me use her guest pass at the Y. She goes to a brand new spanking clean facility that is, unfortunately, quite a drive from my house. It's so tempting to join again, but right now I just can't get myself to leave the house much. I really hate driving on ice. Stupid weather.

Good steady progress. I'll post tonight when I get in from work but I've had a bad week, weight wise, and will soon be passing you as I go up  (181 this morning)

Still going down in weight - well done. Maybe when the better weather arrives you'll feel more inclined to get out.
