On CNBC this morning, they were using Brittney Spears "Crazy" as bumper music while teasing a story about Elon's tweets.
 
Yeah - but will he just use "shareholder money" to pay any fines? Not much of a disincentive.

Well, from what I heard today he could be held personally liable in civil court. And also if shareholder money is used perhaps the Board will be forced to put this spoiled brat in the corner for time out - lol.
 
I'm just glad I got in at $173/share. (I didn't put a lot into it, less than I put into Apple and Google years earlier. Now all three together have grown to about 5% of our portfolio, but originally they were more like 1-2%.)

I'm not crazy about Musk's PR "strategy", but like Apple and Google, I like the pioneering work the company has done in fields other than what they're best known for, in Tesla's case, solar panels and storage batteries. I feel like those will be pivotal to reducing energy costs and fossil fuel use.
Apple and Google management and toss in Amazon/Bezos as well hasn't acted irradically un unprofessionally like Musk has. They've all been under great pressure, they've all had great visions, but they haven't acted like a child throwing a temper tantrum when things didn't go their way, at least not publically.

Musk has a great fanboy group, so he's appealing to a certain group. I can't understand why as he has always over promised and under delivered repeatedly.

Nobody wants some clunky old electric car. They are just a bunch of glorified golf carts.

Land and reuse rocket boosters? He must be insane. That only works in science fiction movies.

No way an American company can economically compete with rockets made in China, Russian or even Europe.

The guy's a nut case. Ignore him.

I have no idea if Mr. Musk will succeed in making Tesla a profitable ongoing presences in the auto industry. I don't own the individual stock and have no plans to do so. But, Must does things that seasoned experts would never try. The guys and gals at CNN? They can go jump on trampolines.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin suggests that NASA "bring their astronauts to the International Space Station using a trampoline."

Elon has brilliance for sure. But sometimes it blinds him to the reality of laws and governing bodies. Just because you are pissed at the shorts doesn't give you the right to squash them and throw it in the face of the SEC. I think that's the crazy part.

People some time feel entitled and therefore above the laws, regulations and norms of society.

Britney Spears checked into a rehab facility and then abruptly checked out, a source confirms to PEOPLE. And then on Friday, she returned to Southern California – and she shaved her head completely bald.

Sometimes my attempt at ironic humor goes over my head. :)

Heck, I do not disagree that he has done a lot that some did not think would happen... but that has nothing to do with his tweet and the valuation of Tesla....


Tesla is overvalued... currently a value over $60 bill and talking $70 bill... with a decent P/E ratio of 20X he would need to be pulling in $3 to $3.5 bill a year in profits.... and Ford has a P/E less than 6, so this is valuing Tesla at a much higher ratio...


So, let's say the battery/solar can produce 50% (not likely, but just for fun), then you need $1.5 profit from the sale of cars... now, we hear that he is not making much money per car, less than $1,000 even after tax credits that will go away... I will increase that to $2,000... that means $1,500,000,000 / $2,000 = 750,000 cars per year... that is a long way from where he is today...


So yes, a great man with great ideas and is putting them to work... agree... valuation of Tesla not so much.... then again, I was looking at one of my index funds the other day and guess which company was it's number one holding!!!

For those who might have concerns or be interested, as mentioned in an earlier thread, understanding the reason for SEC rule 10b-11, might help when considering any stock that is showing unusual volatility.

Don't put too much into it. It is "finance porn" after all. (A term I learned here.) I think Squawk Box has a new music producer/chooser. Their bumpers are becoming more noticeable. Perhaps it is to attract the all high and mighty younger demographic.

And what's wrong with baldness? :)

Stock racing back to $350 level, may drop below that tomorrow. Just shows the market no longer feels the $420 is viable, imagine the suckers who jumped in at $380 expecting a ride north of $400, instead eyeing a 10% haircut in a matter of days. Not sure which is more speculation, BitCoin or Tesla..... LOL

I guess growing up next door to "Teddy" did have an effect on me!

Stock continuing to be a knife drop from the $380 at tweet time, pushing near $300 today and with big volume. Maybe index funds bailing due to talk of going private (many can't hold private stock), or maybe the shine on Musk finally coming off?

It will be interesting to see how much TESLA will owe to shorts who were sold out of Tesla position by the Funding Secured @ 420 statement, which has now been shown by the company & Musk to not be true and the defense seems to be I was on drugs at the time.

TESLA is highly unlikely to go private, they will be darn lucky to survive. And index funds by their nature have to hold on to Tesla on the 1 in 100 chance it does go private @ 420 they would underperform the index.
 
I don't own Tesla stock, nor am interested in shorting it. I don't even actively follow the company or its CEO, other than read the articles that keep popping up daily on these Web sites.

Just as a passive observer, I saw that the stock price jumped up after the most recent quarterly report, when Musk apologized for his bad behavior in the previous quarterly report. And people started to give him credit for improving the production rate of the Tesla 3.

Then, why did Musk go nuts and do that silly Twitter post about $420/share buyout?

Looks like he is like so many people who crave the limelight that these posts bring. They like to see their name mentioned daily in print, and on various Web sites, I guess.
 
I think he does not think he can make it through the next year.


What I think is he might be worried about BK...



Remember that he was involved with Solar City and when they had problems he had Tesla buy it... and after being acquired immediately started to drop in the rankings of solar providers.... someone today on TV said that they might be having Space X looking to buy Tesla... I would hate to see that since I think Space X is more important to the USA future than Tesla...



Sounds like a bunch of bait and switch...
