Anyone been snorkeling with whale sharks in Baja?

Our niece and her husband will be based in Tuscon for several months, and we live in Palm Springs. We are thinking of doing a trip down to Baja to snorkel with whale sharks this winter. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if you can recommend specific operators/areas to stay. DH and I prefer the Caribbean or South Pacific to Mexico and haven’t been to Mexico in 15+ years.

I spent 12 days in BCS Feb/Mar 2021. San Jose>Todos Santos>La Paz - all in airbnb's. We swam with whale sharks in La Paz. Just walk the seawall, and you'll have no trouble finding someone to take you out. Most offer a guarantee (if you don't see whale sharks, then you don't pay).

The place we had in SJ was about an hour up the coast, and was considered "off the grid". There were Humpbacks (mostly moms & calves) breaching all day. We would paddle board out to them.. amazing!

We rented a car for the trip, and driving was no problem.
