Not only overloaded, but he also blocked the view of the license plate. That's a violation even without the other issue.

OK.... I know somebody is going to do this.... but be warned... NSFW!!!

I have seen some pics of cars in Russia that make this one look tame... so I put in 'overstuffed Russian cars' and took a look at the pics...

There were some pics of nice cars... but... some porno pics!!! I wonder how these searches go....

Changed to overloaded and found what I wanted.... not all Russian....

OK - I've seen some ridiculous overloads here along he border, but the above photos indicate the folks here are not as crazy as they could be!!!

We tend to "overpack" for trips as well. I don't like to leave anything behind, and my wife says we're the modern day Beverly Hillbillies when we're all packed up.

Here are a few pics of us heading out for the weekend, one recent, one old.

I see you are in Dallas.... I thought that was illegal in Texas....

Yup, your wife is right, that's nuts! :D

Nah... It's legal as long as the whole rig is under 65 feet. Mine was actually 67, but no one ever asked to measure it. :)

One of our friends asked: "Isn't it hard to tow all that behind you?". I told her it seems easy enough, but the truck might have a different opinion.

wow, that is very long. I can see the freeway is fine, but how do you drive into McD's or normal streets with right/left turns ?
Must run up a few curbs now and then ?

I always forget vehicles might have low trailers when I'm waiting for someone in the left lane to get around me before pulling out into that lane; fortunately we always double check but there have been some whoa moments for us on the Interstate--now I guess we'll have to watch for the caboose....

It all tracks pretty well behind me, I have to swing a bit wider than just one trailer but not much more. I haven't had trouble negotiating surface streets or campgrounds. The only hassle is refueling -- it's difficult to fit into normal gas stations. Sometimes I can fit, but there's too much hanging out into the street.

I believe you're looking at the wrong section. The Texas DPS website has a pretty straightforward section detailing trailering requirements. Here is the quote from their section on vehicle combinations and length:

Vehicle Combinations
Texas Transportation Code 621.205.

  • A combination of not more than three vehicles, may be coupled together if the combination of vehicles, other than a truck-tractor combination, is not longer than 65 feet.
Here's a link to the webpage covering multiple trailers.

https://www.dps.texas.gov/cve/length.htm

I verified this in person at the DPS office before attempting it, so I'll stick with my claim that it's legal.

LOL. so traveling with me is akin to traveling on Cleopatra's barge. I need all my "necessities" and I do think people who can go on a 2 week European vacation and survive on a carry on, are secretly pod people ready to invade your body.

I did see a women on a flight to Vegas try and check a suitcase that had a dining room chair strapped to it. she was adamant that it could fit in the over head compartment.

The link you gave is for commercial vehicles... look at the upper left aboe the patch.... looking at the actual law it also seems to be talking about commercial and not commuter....

I do not have the link, but the one I had was to county clerks (or something similar) that was talking about the law...

I took a look at the section and it is referring to commercial trailers...

Next time I am with the guy who is a LEO I will ask him... even though he is not a legal expert I would think he should know...
