180 day round the world cruise. Experienced places we would not have gone on our own.

A 180 day rtw cruise is one of our goals. Thinking it would be a great way to sample a lot of places.

Annual trip to Dale Hollow Lake for a houseboat weekend with old/new buddies. One side/day trip to GSMNP.

Long birthday weekend in the Ft. Myers area (free condo!).

Yellowstone

Chicago, to visit older bro, and attend Al DiMeola concert. Stopped on the way to see a cousin and eat bbq/drink whiskey in KC. Visited home of the Duke, and photographed some of the bridges of Madison Co.

Overnighter in Austin for John McLaughlin/Jimmy Herring concert.

Weekend in the Seelbach in Louisville, with a visit to the Speed Art Museum.

Wandering around southern Indiana, including French Lick, West Baden, and Spring Mill State Park, visiting various wineries/distilleries (Huber’s, French Lick Winery) funky restaurants in Madison (Crystal and Jules, Broadway Tavern, Rembrandt’s), New Albany (The Exchange, Hull and Highwater), Jeffersonville (Olive Leaf), Story (Story Inn), and Commiskey (Stream Cliff Farms). Sounds like a Chamber of Commerce advert, but there are a few bright spots amongst the blight...

And, most recently, Rome, Florence, Venice, and Paris.

Late to the party here but thanks for getting me to make a list! There is no best. In our case DH plans something anytime he sees an open window and we are only partially retired and many of these are actually work related but now we take as much time with vacation when there is a work-related trip. Why fully retire when work associates invite you for a week in Portugal, a month in Japan or Poland, or to Taiwan's national parks?
