As of 8/1/2020 I retired from my job at a large company in AZ.

Planned on retiring since my mid 20's. My wife retired a few years ago. Daughter is starting college.

2 houses, no debt, 3M net worth. Seems like it was the time to be done working. Looking forward to enjoying the time off.

I've been reading a lot on this site for a long time, but this is my first post. I've learned a lot, and hope to learn even more.

Welcome, and congratulations! Best thing I ever did was to stop working... and I actually enjoyed my work.

Sorry, but I'm afraid you don't fit the standard profile here. First posts are supposed to include at least five questions, four of which are unanswerable without a dozen back-and-forth exchanges asking for more information.

Seriously, welcome to our little world and enjoy your retirement to the utmost!

Welcome AZ and congrats on pulling the cord!

He can just ask when he should file for SS...:D

Welcome to posting, and to being retired.

Great news! Welcome AZ2020. It’s good you started planning to retire in your 20’s. We didn’t even get started until mid 30’s and here we are. Keep active, stay healthy and enjoy the ride.

Big +1
Welcome to the best part of your life. Just need to stay healthy and everything else falls into place.

 Yay for ya!!

Be sure to post tomorrow, Monday, and let everyone know how it feels.

I can't even earn 3M in the rest of my life put together much less save it - good job. I been saving since 20s though so i will get where I get and live with that.

Congratulations. I am in a similar situation age and net worth wise, but health insurance is what holds me back from pulling the trigger. How did you address that out of curiosity?

I also retired at 58........ over 14 years ago. It's been great!

My planning was a bit different though. It started when the security guard showed up at my cube to escort me to the parking lot.

I am guessing you already checked it out, but do you have enough in your taxable account in order to minimize your medical costs via subsidies through the ACA?

Beautiful! I wish you the best.

Welcome! I retired at 56 almost 6 years ago. Loved my w*rk, but the BS bucket was full. You'll love not looking at the clock!

I left the company under a separation package, which included some cash, 18 months of them paying for COBRA, and then then option of me paying for their retirement medical plan. I've got to the end of 2021 to decide if I want to pay for that, ACA, or something else.

The extra cash is enough to buy medical insurance for years, and since I was planning on leaving this year anyway, it is all a bonus to me.

Yes, I have 1M taxable/cash, 1.25M IRA/401K, and the rest is in 2 houses.

I have company provided health insurance until 2022, so no insurance worries until then.

Congratulations on retiring in AZ! We’re also retired in AZ and have 2 houses, one in AZ and another in the snow belt. We plan to unload the northern place as soon as we can get our act together, which is not soon enough. COVID has really slowed our plans, but we’re happy to not have to deal with w*rk.

Do you keep both a summer and winter house? Plan on keeping both??

Yahoo! Congrats.....Did the same 1.5 years ago at 56 and can tell you that everyday feels fantastic!

All the best and welcome aboard!
