The Photographers' Corner - 2021 to ?

homestead - nice pic! Does your iPhone attach to your telescope or do you just hold the phone against the telescope?

Same question for you Robbie - attachment or hand held?

I use this adapter to attach the phone directly to the eyepiece. It was stable enough that I made a facetime call to my son's family so they could see the craters on the moon in real time.

I heard there were some monarchs migrating through our area. So I got up early and got them before they took off for the day.

Thanks! I have to go back again tomorrow am to show DW.

It's amazing. The oak trees are filled with them - mostly on the lower branches. In a picnic area at the edge of a 2500 acre prairie. They take off in groups of 30 or so and fly around nearby for a little bit before taking off.

i have been struggling to get milkweed growing, Finally got about 10 plants, no flowers this first year all goes to growing strong is what they say... Then I saw what at first was a monarch cat and turned out to be black swallowtail cat. But I'll be showing all the different stages with this next batch of about 30 eggs she laid yesterday.

found it interesting that sometimes the pula or what ever they call it sometimes overwinters in cocoon...

Freedom56>> nice!

homestead>> isn't it amazing how well the pictures turn out using a cell phone. Clear detail and colour.

Yes, especially when you consider how I did it back in the old days.
Shoot high speed B&W film on 35mm SLR, go into the darkroom and develop the film. The next day make prints off the negatives.

The phone takes all the work out of it.

You have again made some great shots.. I liked the bald eagle the best, but the butterflies are something I've not seen here :flowers:

Maybe I get up too late, how early is was it to see them before they take off ?

Thanks, I got to the park about dawn (6:30) to shoot the butterflies, but had to use a flash for a while and the pics didn't look good. Luckily the butterflies stayed around a little bit after the sun had warmed them - maybe 7:30 before they started to fly around. My best shots were those where I could get some sun on leaves behind a clump of monarchs.

Went hiking following this morning's rain. Perfect overcast weather for photos. Got this blue heron trying to choke down a bluegill.

Ok, not a really good picture; just taken with my phone on a whim. In my yard it's an artichoke that we decided to let go to flower. A very pretty blue color. We have now 3 artichoke plants, started with 5. They die back each year and have to come back. Ohio is not ideal climate for them.20210909_190325.jpg

RetiriusMinimus very nice!!

You will be in good company here. There are some great photos people here that can talk your language. I like taking pictures but know nothing more then the camera on my phone.

Welcome and looking forward to more of your work.

Nothing professional about these just went for a walk at the ranch and got a few pictures with my cell phone. A couple of fisherman enjoying the day and a couple of mule deer I woke up from their nap. It was a beautiful fall day in the upper 80's to mid 30's in a 24 hour time frame.

The place is very secluded and the deer think they own the place. Lol A lot of time I have to wait for them to get across the dirt two track trail so I can drive in. Been getting moose on camera now but haven't seen any eye to eye yet this fall.

Today's hike - Matthiessen State Park in Utica Illinois. Wish I had something in it for scale.

Very nice - I was telling DW a few days ago that I want to get a photo of a bugling bull moose in an open field with snow topped mountains in the background. Not much chance of that in Illinois.

^ That is a beautiful picture. That is a rock wall on a river or lake?
