global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct consequence of the decline in numbers of pirates since the 1800s.

I can only say that the relationship between pirates and global warming is well documented. This leads me to the obvious conclusion that the greater the number of people we can recruit to talk like a pirate, the greater the potential to reduce global warming.
