So if you had a cd in countrywide that is covered by FDIC... would you be ok with that or pull the trigger and do an early withdrawal with penalties.

The news on countrywide has me jittery.

5.45% with competitors about 1% below that.... having "investors" remorse

Leave it there and save the penalty. IF CW goes down the drain, your CD will move to the successor bank, usually on a Friday and on Monday it will be at the new institutions. BTW you can get 5.25 at PENFED, which is not very high currently.
