need help solving a mystery

I know that nearly everyone on this forum has more knowledge about all things electronic and technological than I. Please help. I'll be glad to give more details if necessary, but here are the basics. Sometimes I park my car ('06 Lincoln Zephyr) on the street in front of my house. On several occasions lately, I have gone to use it and both front windows have been down and the doors unlocked. This not a good thing anywhere, but especially in the Pacific Northwest. I know that I have been putting the windows up and locking the doors. This only happens if I park on the street; not the driveway, garage or elsewhere. It has remote entry, but not remote starting. I don't know the answer, but what about the gas? Do you think someone broke in and is taking it for a joyride (repeatedly)?

Are you sleep walking? Ever loan your keys to a friend who is a prankster? Can it be a frequency remote control transmitter? If so, could it be disabled by a mechanic?

P. Bum, Thanks. The person reporting the problem was not me. I won't bore anyone further with this, but solution #2 is very relevant. Am 80% sure my prob is solved.

Make sure that the place you put your keys does not press on the unlock button. My vehicle does this if you hold the unlock remote button down. Its a nice feature in the summer if you are walking across the parking lot as some of the hot air in the car is let out.

Fisherman, I looked through my owners guide for a half hour or so and missed the sentence which said that if I held the unlock button down for three seconds or so, the front windows roll down also. I was putting the remote in my jeans pocket, then bending over to put on and tie my shoes, sometimes pressing the button. Then I would go to my car and the windows would be down...I think. Thanks

I have a remote start on my car, and I sometimes do the same thing. The button accidentally get pushed while in my pants pocket when I bend over or crouch down, and the car starts. It freaked me out the first couple of times that it happened, until I figured it out...I thought the thing was malfunctioning.

Try some of those really loose and low fitting baggy pants.... You know, the ones that almost fall down.

I eventually figured out that if I waited to put my remote and keys in my pocket after some distance from the car, I didnt come back and find it unlocked. Seems like a common problem.
I also had a bad remote, needed a replacement, dealer quote was high, kept hounding the counter man, he told me to go to ebay. They had the original for about 60% of dealer!

It's probably either a malfunctioning sfitzer valve or an internal ball bearing alignment issue. Have you had the air in your tires changed lately?

OP, I am not technologically savvy in the least bit so you are not alone on this forum. I can barely screw in a light bulb, and the fleet goes to the dealer for service. I have never encountered anything like the situation you describe. I would take the car to the dealer or trusted auto repair shop for a look-see.

Yeah, here's the funny thing: I've had this car for awhile and only glanced through the manual a few times. Just before I posted here I looked at the section about the door locks etc. more closely. This car has quite a lot of gadgetry and I suspect there are quite a few things it "does" which I don't know about. Point is that I didn't really read the manual. I'd like my manhood back now, please.
