Drink Less, Work More

Thought this was worth sharing.

Gina Rinehart seems to court controversy - from her family lawsuits to her battles with Australian media.

Gina Rinehart now the Australian mining heiress, worth $19 billion and earlier this year thought to be the world's richest woman, has sparked another controversy in her latest column in Australian Resources and Investment magazine. (Yes, I am a registered reader online.) Rinehart rails against class warfare and says the non-rich should stop attacking the rich and go to work.
"There is no monopoly on becoming a millionaire," she writes. "If you're jealous of those with more money, don't just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself - spend less time drinking, or smoking and socializing and more time working."

I think she was referring to Aussies. Here in the US folks waste their time texting and posting on internet forums.

Hrmph! I was just speaking to Thurston and Lovey about this very subject at the club the other day. The servant class just isn't what it used to be. You'd think that the peasantry would be grateful for the jobs we've created for them.

It's ever so annoying.

“The comfort of the rich depends upon an abundant supply of the poor,” wrote Voltaire

"All for ourselves and nothing for other people, seems, in every age of the world, to have been the vile maxim of the masters of mankind." --Adam Smith, in The Wealth of Nations

Once upon a time, the peasantry got decent benefits, stable working hours and wages that kept up with the cost of living. And they were allowed to have a life outside of their j*bs.

Kinda of funny coming from some fat ass bitch that has probably never done an honest day's work in her life.

Bring on the bacon.

Yes, about those jobs:
Rinehart said taxes should fall, red tape should be cut, environmental rules relaxed and the minimum wage should be lowered.

Or, for another take:
Of course, as Rinehart knows, you can also become very rich from inheriting and expanding your father's company.

To be fair to the poor misguided woman, she did preface her remarks with
If you're jealous of those with more money ...

My impression is that folks here are decidedly NOT jealous of anyone; we tend to be a very contented lot, in general (and with good reason -- early retirement is satisfying in so many ways).

I find it ironic she forgot to mention option 2 besides working harder. That being receiving wealth by birthright of a heiress. Kind of ironic she forgot that since that is how she got hers I imagine.

This is where that "Swear Like a Drunken Sailor" list could come in handy.

Option 3 If you're jealous of those with more money:

Get a very large group of people with pitchforks and torches and storm the Bastille to expropriate your fair share and to teach those that have been successful a lesson.

Or better yet, just have the IRS agents do it for you.

Let them eat cake ?

I wonder if she is single. I could be a kept man for the right price.

She's been married twice.

Let's not be too hard on her - after all she was raised as the only child of a man who advocated using nuclear bombs in the mining industry.

Hey, look at it this way. Even crazy people can get rich! How about that?

In fact, quite a few rich people are crazy, or act crazy. Well, maybe not as many as those exist among the poor peasants, but the presence of rich crazy people gives me hope. Perhaps I can be rich some day.

Wait a minute! First, I have to get off my ass and go back to work, just like this woman said. Damn!

Of course all of us here have drunk our way to early retirement: that's why it's called FIRE water.

I prefer the term that the French have for that: eau de vie or "water of life".

I am going to pour meself some right now. Heh heh heh... I may be crazy but I know what's good for me.

No, poor people are crazy Jack. I'm eccentric

Rich means being able to do what you want. I don't need anything close to a billion dollars to be able to do that.
