So, who’s in? Yeah, guess I am against my better judgment. What do you think of the new judges?
Ugh, I am not looking forward to Nicki Minaj as a judge. Hopefully she will be better than I expect.
I will be watching the show either way. I love watching Idol, and have watched it for many years. I would be disappointed if it started going downhill, though.
Is that on ESPN? I seem to have missed this show.
Indeed. One of the great things about television in recent years is how it has grown to offer enough of so many different interest that we no longer all have to watch the same things anymore. I laugh when I hear some people boast (yup - it sounds just like boasting) that today's shows can't beat the ratings of shows. (Only three of the 40 most watched television broadcasts were from the last eighteen years.) What they see as some kind of endorsement of television "from the old days" I see as a condemnation. The reality is that we're in the actual "Golden Age of Television". Television no longer has to be so badly watered down as to be amenable to 40-50 million people. A television broadcast these days can appeal to 10 million people and still be considered highly successful, and therefore can be much more specific to a certain audience, and therefore excel with regard to what that more concentrated audience is seeking. What's ESPN?
Surely not, and given what I wrote above, that's okay.Am I the only one who has never watched the American Idol show ?

I'd forgotten about Haley Reinhart! She was a great contestant. Nice song, too.
...And then there is this one, which is so touching!
probably one of the best "moments" from last season. And IMO hugely better than the Jennifer Hudson rendition.
I think so too. I thought very first time she sang it on Idol was the best, because it was so soon after Whitney's death and so full of emotion. So, I edited my post to change it to that version, instead of the "best moments of this season" when she sang it again later on.
I watching the premiere show tonight. I'm already wondering if there is setting on my DVR where it could recognize the portion of a program where a person with rainbow colored hair is speaking, then designate it as a commercial for fast-forwarding purposes.
