What's the temperature where you are?

15°F here this morning, high ~29°F. Forecast is to stay below freezing until next Tuesday when the heat wave hits and it gets to near 40°F. Whoo hoo.

56 degrees and overcast.

54 and bright sunshine here in southern Utah - heading out for a mountain bike ride now.

Sunshine, blue skies, 68 degrees and I'm working outside wearing a t shirt.

It is 44F outside right now, at 8:30 PM. Almost toasty after the cold weather earlier in the week.

Our low tonight is predicted to be:
29F by the NWS
33F by wunderground
33F by the weather channel
32F by accuweather, and
26F, 28F, and 32F by our three local TV news show weathermen.

So the NWS issued a hard freeze warning for tonight through 10 AM tomorrow. Not just a freeze warning, but a hard freeze warning, updated an hour ago. :ermm:

TBH, I have no clue what to expect. Apparently it's a very difficult weather situation for predicting the low tonight. Guess I will start the faucets dripping, but I'll sure feel stupid about that if the low is 33 tonight.

If any of your sinks are against an outside wall, open the cabinet door under them, it will let a little heat into the space and help keep the pipes from freezing.

Kinda chilly here of late. Just barely making 80 most days. Clear down to mid 60s at night - break out the comforter! BRRRrrrr. YMMV

11 degrees in the heart of North Carolina. Glad I can stay in bed for as long as I damn well please. 😀

Not to be a downer, but yesterday's bitter cold and snowy weather here on Long Island claimed the life of my co-op's long-time super. He had been clearing snow with a snowblower when he died of a heart attack. A neighbor (a retired paramedic) saw him laying in the snow from his window and ran outside to try to revive him. He yelled for others to call 911, which I and others did. Help arrived within a few minutes but it too late.:(

And the winners were....(drum roll).....Wunderground and the Weather Channel! Our low last night turned out to be 34F. I took Gumby's very good advice and opened the cabinets under my sinks, just in case.

It is 44F right now, with a high of 50F predicted today, 55F tomorrow, and upper 60's after that, so we seem to be warming up.

Scrabbler, I am so sorry to read about your long time super passing away while operating a snow blower. So tragic, and yet sadly, this does happen more frequently than one might expect.

As always I urge any of our members over 50 who can afford to hire someone to remove snow or mow lawns, to do that just to play it safe. Then for exercise, join a gym where you can work out in a controlled environment and regulate the intensity of your workout to a greater extent. We can't avoid the Grim Reaper forever but we can sure give him a run for the money.

Sunny and 61 degrees in Central Texas today, with a low of 41 this morning.

Why is it that a winter weather event that hits the east coast is newsworthy but the same thing in Iowa or Nebraska isn't news? Is it the "flyover country" effect?

Where is this Iowa or Nebraska you speak of?

Seriously, the East Coast signifies because that's where the population centers are. Greater Boston alone has about the same population as Iowa and Nebraska combined.

These are the mornings I'm glad to be retired...... -2

Yes indeedy!

Tomorrow is going to be the worst so far for us. Low 6°F tonight, high 16°F tomorrow, 1°F tomorrow night. Then it gets better and by Tuesday the high is supposed to be 43°F and Wednesday 48°F.

A possible bad outcome is Monday, 50% chance of wintry mix. If that is water when it hits the pavement, it will be instant ice, with water on top. I've seen that movie before and it is hard to stand up on it, let alone drive on it. So it is a safe bet that Monday will find us in the house with the vehicles safely tucked away in the garage, and absolutely resolved to not go anywhere that day.

52 - in our guest bedroom. Outside started the day at -12. now at -1." quote reminds me of an old friend who said "if you don't want your in-laws or company to stay to long, just remove the bathroom door before they come!".

-31 degrees near the Canadian border this morning which might kill some tamarack bark beetles which have devastated thousands of acres of swamp tamarack trees in northern Mn. The adult beetles spend winter under the bark of a tamarack tree or beneath the snow at its base. It takes -35 degrees or more to kill them.

This is very sad. Having seen the images from Long Island yesterday, I can't imagine a snow blower could even make a dent in all the snow that fell. It sounds as though your super was very conscientious, and sadly the job claimed his life. :(

Headed for record lows here tonight, down to -12F, but a warm up coming next week. Down to my last bit of wood. 2 face cords coming tomorrow and will have to move and stack it in cold but sunny weather. Although it has been cold for the last week it has been gorgeous blue skies and sunshine. Like winter on the prairies.
