What is your Fountain of Youth routine ?

A slice of chocolate babka with my coffee every morning, and occasionally another one later in the day :LOL:
 
whereas the 20 hour fast doesn't usually bother me. I really like to just put lots of good food in front of myself and eat unlimited quantities of everything that tastes good.

I've been doing an 8 hour window for about 4 months. Not doing it for weight loss but more for possibly fighting early cancer cells. Cancer is all over my family and I've already had it once. Luckily caught early.

The 8 hour window is pretty easy to adapt to. Your 4 hour window I think would be more challenging.
 
Chaga

Question - do you notice any definite noticeable benefits from the chaga, or do you just use it for long-term protection? I ask because a friend of mine is considering trying chaga for muscle inflammation issues he has, and he asked me what I thought of it. So I'd like to hear from someone who has actually tried it. We do have it growing around here on birch trees also. Thanks.
 
I walk 3-5 miles 4-5 X a week with 2 visits to the Y for weight training.

I also take memory pills when I can remember to take them.

What are these "memory pills" people are talking about? Is it a joke I've missed somewhere?

(If there were any worth to the jellyfish extracts, etc. that are pushed via TV to credulous old people, they wouldn't be sold over the counter).
 
I take turmeric to help with inflammatory issues, I grow them. Plus turmeric helps with some form of cancer, throat cancer if I recall, my husband’s father had it. Probably he ate a lot of hot food. My husband likes his food hot(not spicy hot), but temperature hot. Rapid cells turnover, same for skin. Turmeric might help with heart attack, it’s a form of blood thinner.

My memory pill reference was indeed just a joking reference. Agree with your other statement.

But I don't need to shed any weight either. Only later did I discover it was called I.F. Then I learned of the autolysis effects, which I think has reasonable basis in fact as opposed to so many other observational correlations/recommendations that change every week.

After talking to my best friend, whose wife just died, and my late wife's family about her mother who just died, it was great, on Sunday, to spend some time with these three:

I've been intermittent fasting. About 2 yrs ago when I first discovered it and started reading about it, I found I had already been doing it for years. I hope that's a good thing. Other than leaving 14-16 hours between daily feeds I also try to keep calories on the low side, closer to 1500 cals than the often stated 2000 cals per day. That and general low carbing. No sugar or grains except a few times per year.

We use chaga for long-term protection. I personally have not noticed any definable benefit... but neither one of us currently have health issues.
 
I try to act as a young as possible when not at work. Past 50 now but at least one night, during upcoming Vegas trip, we will be out until the wee-hours at one of the big dance clubs. That is to be distinguished between other semi-late nights in Vegas at age appropriate things like a piano bar and late show of Cirque or similar. Maybe counter-intuitive, but it makes me feel young being about the only old people in the place!

P.S. I'll probably still be at the gym a few hours later working out though!
 
Interesting, I hang out with a lot seniors in my bridge club, most of them call me kiddo. I feel young because of that and probably the youngest. And when I hang out with the young kids in my art class, I don’t feel young at all. It must be psychological.
 
2-3 pounds of beef per day (70-30 ground beef or Ribeyes) and drink water. Eat meat, drink water. Nothing else.
 
@Amethyst, I seem to get less brain fog after eating bone soup after a few weeks. My husband also claims he needs less reading glasses as he reads his newspaper. The good thing is our body does rehab and gets better. It’s not necessarily downhill all the way.
 
No fiber. I have been on this diet for almost half the year and the lack of fiber does not bother me. I eat meat, drink water. Never felt better.
 
I just retired June 2018 at age 54 and this Summer I’ve been working to regain my strength and cardio endurance so I can be more competitive on the weekends at amateur bicycle races.

Here’s what I have been up to ...

Hitting the gym in the morning for strength training daily
Mid-day chores and yard work around the house
Hill climbing in the afternoon on my mountain bike
Healthier eating and zero pre-prepared or fast food
Light on the beer and alcohol

Feeling so much better than I did last Spring when I was working. Truth be told last Spring I was in line for a promotion to a position with even more stress. A heart-to-heart with my wife and a few close friends made me see the light and I chose early retirement instead.

I now realize that Early Retirement is my fountain of youth.

Will be pinning on a number and racing this weekend for the first time since May 2018. Looking forward to testing how my routine this Summer and the awesome low stress early retirement lifestyle pays off when I toe the line with the young guns (30 year olds).

No alcohol, no soda, strictly water. Eat high protein meals as often as possible, no to low-carbs as often as possible. Fail on a weekly basis, but that's why I aim high.



Exercise has been less than stellar but still go on weekly 12mile Rollerblade treks, or bike treks. I used to run daily but with 2 little ones time is precious.

Seems their is always someone better than yourself, but that's subjective. I do what makes me feel the best.

May I ask how many grams of protein you eat every day and how much is from animal sources?
