See you all tomorrow!

FYI the name of the private room is the M&M Lounge.

I have argued in the past that the person who organizes these meetings should collect the names of attendees but not publicize the (1) date, (2) time, (3) meeting place, or (4) attendance list. Instead, this should be done via PM only. Any other approach represents an unacceptable security hazard. My proposal hasn’t gained any traction. That’s OK - whatever - it’s not my problem. :)

One of your topics for discussion can be the silly security-related paranoid ravings of the lunatic fringe. :D

Have fun! :greetings10:

P.S. A relative recently left a bag at the curb at Sarasota airport. This bag contained a bunch of valuable/sensitive stuff - a laptop, checkbook (yes, the older folks still travel with a checkbook - how quaint :)), tax documents, etc. The bag was returned promptly the next day. The cop at SRQ who handles these matters says that over 99% of people who lose a bag like this get it back undisturbed. IOW, most people are honest. The evil 1% capture the headlines (at least it sure seems that way at the news aggregation websites I visit, like cnn.com and yahoo.com) because the honest 99% are rather boring and not newsworthy. However, we shouldn’t forget that the evil 1% are lurking out there.

I hope you all have a great time and that this event continues. I very much wanted to come but just couldn’t pull it off this time. Hoping for next year. Again, enjoy!

What are the security hazards that you don't speak of?

When I worked at Megacorp, there was a meeting of the minds, and prior to the meeting the rooms and surrounding areas were checked by K-9, and areas were checked for cameras and listening devices.

Can you elaborate on the part of your post that I bolded? I don't follow (which is probably a poor word choice since "security" is now the topic).

Sorry I cannot attend this year--I have a JOB working at a golf course on Sunday afternoons. I had a great time last year and really wish I could attend tomorrow. Have fun.

Fair point... I think we could set the time and date and attendees in a thread but send the where by PM. If someone with bad intentions wants to spend a couple hours scouring the west coast of Florida looking for us then good luck to them. As for tomorrow, I guess we'll take our chances.

I don’t share the concern, but I think the risk is that someone who somehow knows the attendees would know that person will not be home during those hours.

I can live with that risk.

Yeah, if they’re that smart, they’ve probably already hooked into my ring doorbell and watched me drive off and then they check my vehicle through onStar to see if I’m on my way home. Bottom line if you just can’t eliminate all risk. God forbid I ever get robbed, I just hope I’m not home and no one gets hurt. Everything else is an insurance matter.

Had a great time today at our get together.
Thank you so much Omni550 and Simple Girl for your work in making our event a success.

P.S. No one robbed my house while I was away. lol
