Miele
More than $$ but aren’t you going to have to vacuum wherever it is your moving to?
Is the dyson stick heavy ? I have been thinking about getting one .I have a stick style Dyson and will never go back. Good for carpet and flat surfaces.
The Best Upright and Canister Vacuums
After our look at more than 525 vacuums over hundreds of hours, our favorite vacuum for most people is still the Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352. $140 on Amazon
I have a Dyson. Had it for 11 years now. It picks up so much more than any vacuum I have ever had.

You want to use it for 3 years and you won't take it with you?
I'd get a Shark and save the money. They have a 5-year warranty.

Even if you buy the $700 Miele that Wirecutter recommends for their luxury pick and resell it before you move, you're not going to get $560 for it used. The Shark is the better deal. I have one and it works fine on both my laminate floors and my carpet. We have three stories, so two carpeted spiral staircases, and the lift-away is much easier to use on them than getting the canister we had before up and down.

Do you have carpet? We did and we were impressed by the Dyson. Then, we realized that most of the stuff in the canister was carpet fibers. It seemed like it was destroying our carpet a little bit each time we vacuumed.
nope, i mean i haven't weighed it, and I don't have to carry it up stairs or anything, but I've never thought it heavy at all. Had mine since 2014 I think?
It's one of the cordless stick animal versions. You can often find deals on older model refurbs, and dyson warranty support is pretty darn good even on those. Mine was just out of warranty when the head brushes stopped turning (I had fiddled with it because I get a LOT of hair in them). They sent me a new head mechanism no charge, and it's run fine the past 3 years after that.
I like that it also comes with attachments so I can use it in my car as well.
Miele.

Buy from your local store for 2 reasons:
1. Miele controls the selling price.
2. The local store will throw in spiffs that Amazon sellers will not.
Do not buy brand x bags, buy Miele bags. Ask me how I know this.
You want 3 attributes for a vacuum:
1. Sucks
2. Quiet
3. Traps crap
Miele excels at all 3.
We had one for 22 years and loved it.Our new house came with a central vac
I have this Shark Navigator also. I think it is all I would ever want. You want to use it for 3 years and you won't take it with you?
