Who are your favorite comedians?

Monty Python troupe
old classic SNL
Jeff Dunham

Here's a recent one: J.P Sears of Awaken with J.P. Very topical and clever.

I am truly envious. That would be a great collection to have. Carlin is definitely in my top-5 list, and I am hard pressed to think who the other four would be.

I must admit, I do prefer his material when he was older. His last 5 HBO specials are gems.

Jerry Clower.

+ for the man from Route 4, Liberty, Mississippi....JERRY CLOWER

YouTube has all the great coon huntin stories and the comings and going of Uncle Versie and all the Ledbetters! Good stuff still.

I'll give it up for the late-night talk show hosts who have kept me sane in recent years: Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon. I only watch their opening segments, hardly ever the rest of the shows. But their humor is fresh (new every night, not a rehearsed "routine") pointed (with a point some might disagree with) and innovative, with lots of multimedia bits.

I also like John Oliver, who can get profane, but in a Don-Knotts sort of way. The F-bombs drop as he works himself up into a lather.

Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles. I love watching the old celebrity roasts where Rickles would rip the whole panel.

Seinfeld (& the whole cast of that peerless show)
Steve Martin
Gilda Radner (+ others from the early SNL gang, & I like the current line-up too)

Google Russel Peters, does imitations worldwide, hilarious Canadian (Indian) guy :)

Am I the first to mention Doug Stanhope? He's really the only comic able to simultaneously offend me and make me think. He's still alive and still touring.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of comedians rely on profanities for most of their acts. I'm no prude, but that's just not funny to me. I don't mind the occasional curse word, but if that's their entire act I lose interest quickly. People like Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy are two prime examples. If they're in a setting that prevents them from swearing (a movie or TV show), they can be hilarious. But without a little control, they're just offensive. Swearing is so pervasive that I rarely watch stand up comedy shows anymore.

I wish there were more "clean" comedians. The best comedians find humor in every day life situations. Insults and vulgar language are not funny (IMHO).

Search for Dry Bar Comedy on YouTube for clean comedy (I understand they also have a free app for phone or tablet).

Carlin #1. Others I like in no particular order: Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Dangerfield, Pryor.

I used to really like Russell Peters at his peak: seeing in person, always quoting his lines, etc. But it feels his material has become a bit repetitive the last half decade+. He's probably making good coin with his formulatic specials and enjoying his spoils.

Love comedy and use comedv sirius stations a ton. We saw Ron White live. DH attended only for my security and to drive. Surprise! DH thinks he's funny, also.

Brad Upton on Dry Bar Comedy. Just an example.

They film lots of comedians at this venue. Maybe one will be the next Tim Allen.

I agree with the sentiment, but, I'm not so dissuaded.
I remember George Wallace as a clean funny comedian, I enjoyed his humor.

But sadly I found a couple of Youtube video's of him and he had potty mouth, but not F bombs.

Maybe I remember him as clean because I saw him on network TV!

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned . I may have missed it but does anyone else like Jackie Mason?

George Burns/Gracie Allen
