Gas prices are going up fast

Not to take away what Stormy Kromer means by that statement. My thought on his thought is that ND/MT can't get oil out of their state because of regulations in place.
Pipelines are full and regulations for new pipelines have put a halt on getting oil to market. I seen on national news that ND/MT has enough surplus of oil to make up what we buy from Russia. Most wells just idle because they can only get so much oil out of the area.
Just my thought on Stormy Kromer statement.
Building infrastructure with a hundred year life expectancy that directly makes climate change worse is not such a wise move. Of course, if you wish away climate change with some slogans and hand waving, it makes for good short term political strategy. Everyone loves cheap gas.

We can’t ignore energy as an immediate national security issue. Weakening your position in this area while strengthening your foe’s position is a mistake. As we are seeing now it can be a contributing factor in a decision for bad actors to go to war.

Of course, if you wish that significant amounts of renewable energy and the infrastructure to transmit and utilize it will be available in a ridiculously short time period and add some nice slogans and hand waving, it makes for a good short term political strategy.

MODERATOR NOTE: Let's knock off the sniping.

Just finished a 4 week roadtrip. Mi, Il, Fl, SC, WVa. 3,200 miles in a rental (Challenger). Cheapest gas was $3.87, most was priced over $4.

Premium gas down 20 cents from the high point.

Our state gas tax is only $0.16 so cutting it would be insignificant - and we really do need it. Our infrastructure is full of holes - literally.

I haven't yet seen our gas prices begin to drop but that is typical. We'll usually stay at high levels for quite some time. Of course, every drop of oil we use has several thousand miles on it before we get it. So price increases are baked into the oil back a few weeks when it started its journey. YMMV

We saw gas prices drop about 30 cents here in the past few days. I saw regular for $3.79 yesterday at several stations. Odd thing is diesel doesn't seem to be dropping much at all.

We've been on the fence about solar panels between the cost and the possibility we might downsize. But high energy prices now have made them seem more attractive. We're considering our next big projects to be electrify everything, insulate, heat pump, solar panels and electric cars.

Our state has voted to reinstate the gas tax effective Friday 4/15. I will be sure to top off our tanks before them. This week I filled up at Costco for $3.51/gal, and the nearest gas station to us is $3.76/gal. I am betting that come Friday the non-Costco gas will be back above $4.00/gal.

Boy, those are great prices compared to many areas. I just filled again for 3.83$ but that is fully taxed no discounts on that price.

Coming back down around here... I saw it for 3.39 (regular) at one station but most are ~3.59...

Still haven't gotten gas since my post on 3/16, though it's just gone below half of a tank.

Fill up every week. The price of playing Pickleball distant venues.

We are still well over $5. I'm gonna fill up Friday as I'll be near Costco Gas. Hoping they may just be under $5 but I doubt it.

The closest station near us peaked at $4.259/gal very briefly, and has fallen steadily since. Today it’s $3.899/gal…

Are others starting to see prices go down? Not in my area, we peaked at $4.49 (reg. unleaded) and it stayed there for awhile until we saw an earth shattering drop to $4.48 a couple weeks ago.

Peaked at $3.99, currently $3.58

Holding at $3.59 for the past week around here...

Actually, I've seen the prices in my neighborhood tick up a few cents this week. That's not a valid sampling, but my guess is it is correct. YMMV

Going down a little. Sometimes it helps to have a gas station card.
At my local Shell today regular $5.77 credit, $5.61 cash said the sign.

Usually the card is good for another 10 cents, but today 30, so $5.31.
Still steep, but a small Woohoo.

Here it peaked at $4.29 and has dropped slowly to $3.79 for regular as thats what I use. The hytest is $.10 to .15 higher.

Looks like Texas gas prices are going down. Not the case up north still hovering around 3.90$ not moving down here.
