Baseball 2022

A little less interesting since the Astros pulled the starter.

It's not like the old days. A complete game, especially in the playoffs, has almost become extinct. These days it seems to be all about pitch count. I do think it is not quite as exciting in that regard. However, I always hold my breath then they bring in a reliever. Sometimes they are "off" and if so it can blow the game. The sluggers of today only need a little edge and it's out of the park.

The Astros have tied it up but the series has a long ways to go. One more in Philadelphia and then back to H-town for the last two, if necessary.

I think it's been a great series and although I am a Astros fan the Phillies have been quite impressive. I hadn't seen any of their games until the World Series.

Go Astros!!

That was the 2nd combined no-hitter this year with that Astros' starting pitcher. Not as fun as a complete game, but an accomplishment still.

Best 2 out of 3 now for all the marbles .

I'm hoping for a game 7.

Astros get a World Series no-hitter (5-0) !! Second in WS history - Go Astros!!
And I missed it... I took an overnight trip last night and the game was blacked out at the hotel where I was staying. :(

I know, and I wasn't surprised, but I hoped they'd let Javier go. They had a safe 5-0 lead, their bullpen could probably use a break, and he probably won't even make another start, so it seemed like a perfect situation. Have a reliever ready, and if he gives up a hit, pull him then.

I looked up his recent game log, and he's really done well recently. 8 games from August on where he pitched at least 5 innings and gave up no more than 2 hits and only 1 run in those games.

Might be saving Javier to relief if there is a game 7 where anything goes.

But I'm like you. Would've liked to see if he could get a no-no complete game.

I hope the Phillies never see Javier again unless they acquire him.

Harper's having a great post-season, but in 4 years with the Phils he's averaged 25 HR's a year and batting .282. Decent numbers, but worth $25M/yr?
Of course, the Yankees paid $32 million to Giancarlo Stanton, who hit .211 and struck out 137 times in 398 at bats.

Why did Houston hold Javier for game 4? He looked the best so far and his stats for this year looked great!

But as Phillies fan, I agree that I’d rather not see him again! Lol!

It’s funny but after game 3 I was saying that I hope they didn’t use up all their runs in one game!

Three game Series now. I’d like to see a Game 7 on Sunday!

Remember: retirees don’t have to worry about waking up Monday morning. :D

Astros won the game 5 with stellar defense. They made every difficult play and the Phillies didn't giving the Astros the 3rd run.

Hats off to Dusty for making the right move bringing in the closer during the 8th.

I want a game 7.

:clap:Great game and a great series - a real nail biter tonight and great plays by McCormick and also Mancini after he replaced Gurriel. Pena is a badass.

I'm watching the games sitting in my basement and I can feel the breeze coming off the Phillies' bats all the way here, in Minnesota.

The Astros win the WS - the dynasty continues!!

Congrats to Dusty Baker and Dusty Baker ONLY, the SF Giants legend. You have won the World Series. You are #ForeverGiant

This is not a dynasty. Astros won 2 in 5 years. You need to win next year to become one. The last dynasty were the Giants.

Exactly!

Congratulations to the Astros, 2022 World Series champions.

The Astros are not a dynasty, not yet. The Giants were not a dynasty. A dynasty is a team that wins the championship 2, 3, 4 years in a row. Not twice in 5 years (Astros) or every other year over 5 years (Giants.) The last dynasty was the New York Yankees.

OK, as far as "Dynasty" maybe not when compared to the Yankees. The Houston Chronicle said "Greatest era in Astros history adds another chapter" and hopefully more to come.

The Astros’ World Series stars embody the Houston immigrant dream. They embody what we want Houston to be — an inclusive, welcoming, worldly city, where dreams aren’t limited by language, birthplace or zip code.

Go Astros!!

Giants win 3 of 5 years. That’s a dynasty. Yankees also have the biggest payroll so they buy their rings.

I had to look it up- the Yankees have one the WS twice this century.
Astros twice this century
Giants three times this century - just saying.

Congratulations to the Houston Astros! The Phillies put up a good fight. They’ll be back!

The Giants win the World Series 2010, 2012, and 2014. However, they don't even make the playoffs in 2009, 2011, 2013, or 2015. Sorry, that's not a dynasty.

Game 6 was a little boring to me until the 6th inning... NO runs... Then when the Phillies scored in the top of the 6th, I thought, well that's all it takes. Then Astros answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and really won the game with the HR (by Yordan) that drove in two more with him and that clinched the game. To me, that seemed to break the Phillies spirit.

Regardless, both played well most of the series. Honestly, I felt a "little" :) sorry for Altuve. He struggled offensively the entire post season until the last couple of games when he finally started to come around. Defensively he played his usual outstanding in all games.
