What grocery stores in your town do you never go to?

Not much choice, I've gone to all 3 of them over the years.

I avoid Safeway, but do check in from time to time just to see if they have fresh figs.

Savemart, Food Maxx, Grocery Outlet.
I’m sure there are more.

We have Vons (Albertson) and Grocery Outlet, and that's it. I go to both.

Not so much to the Dollar stores or C stores some of which don't have price tags on stuff.

If I want a Kroger store, or Trader Joes or Walmart or Target it is an hour drive one way. We have done that twice in 4 months, so far.

There are only 3 we use, so I guess that means there are a whole lot we don’t go to. Costco (ok not a grocery store but it is to us) HEB and Sprouts. HEB dominates here, but there are other smaller chains.

I’ll shop anywhere, but for groceries, I mostly use Kroger and two local stores that specialize in produce. They’re expensive but they have nice product and I like splurging there every so often.

I do not go to Walmart for food. I don’t go there for anything unless it’s a last resort.

Walmart and Sprouts are our go to’s. Sprouts for produce and proteins. Walmart for everything else. I don’t like shopping there, but they are cheap.

I play the sales and coupon game at Kroger and I may not be getting the absolute lowest price, I’m sure I'm getting close. I’ll do a little work to stay out of Walmart, especially now that all the coupons are digital. I get all my ducks in a row before I go. Thankfully, it takes just a few minutes.

We use Ibotta. They seem to have the best rebates at Walmart.

I never go to Lidl. We went a couple of times after they opened to checking out and we were not at all impressed. Half the store isn’t even groceries. It’s a bunch of really cheap random crap. Aldi has the one aisle with stuff but it’s usually at least decent items.

Savemart is my first pick here in the valley. Great meat, produce and seafood. Odd.

Interesting. The Savemart in my area up north is all the across the bridge so it takes 15 minutes instead of 10. [emoji23]
The one that was just 5 minutes from my house changed to a La Superior market. I don’t go in there either but there is no particular reason.
Maybe I’m missing out and should check it out.

That's a long way.

Savemart here is 3/4 mile away and Raley's 1.75 miles. First and second choice.

I have a Winco and a Raley’s about 1 and 1.25 miles from my house but I usually opt for Bel Air which is a little farther but it close to Target and other shopping.
I live north of Sacramento in a fairly small town so most places aren’t more than 5-10 minutes away. And that’s with traffic. [emoji23]

I’ve been seriously thinking about doing more shopping at Winco but you really have to time it right since certain times it is packed.

I read that wrong the first time. We only have one store in our small town: a Piggly Wriggly. Otherwise, it's a twenty mile drive to the next store. So the answer is none.

Easier to say which I do go to. My regular stores are Trader Joe’s and Ralph’s. Supplemental stores for specific items are Costco, Smart & Final, WalMart, and Vons. I don’t like Aldi or Grocery Outlet.

Lidl was supposed to come here, but never showed up. That's ok. Back years ago, there was another German-owned chain that hit the area by storm. Stores suddenly opening up all over. I can't remember the name of it. It hit the fan, and pulled out. Their employees were getting disgusted, and spreading the inside info. The company was selling meat that sat for a long time unsold, taking it in back, and "regrinding", I.E., mixing new meat in with the old awful stuff, and putting it out for sale. Also bleaching meat to make it look and smell more pallatable (sp?). After some corporate "we aren't doing that!", and ex-employees saying "oh yes you DO!" they pulled out quick.

There are 3 that I go to (Commissary, Costco, and Publix) and about 30 that I don't.

Cheers!

Will my answer suddenly trigger ads aimed at me on other sites?

We go to all of them, but our least frequented is Whole Foods. Only if we can't find something anywhere else will we try there.
