TurboTax Max Discount Watch

Helpful thread to me to know that I got it a month ago within $1 of the best price. Sure, I could've waited, but what if I was busy or traveling today?

I do one return on a Windows machine, and 4 returns on Macs. Therefore, I usually get the disc version (which has both flavors). If you go the download route, can you download both versions, or are you committed to all PC or Mac?
Single downloaded file can be installed on PC or Mac. You can also install it on multiple machines if needed, however you're still limited to 5 returns.
No, you actually get both WinPC & Mac install files with the online download. Whether you can install on both a Mac and a PC I don’t know. I read an Intuit forum page about it, some users said you could, some said you had to call customer service to get it to work, some said you have to create a separate Intuit account for the other platform install and then it will work. Could be messy…

I installed the Mac version, and the PC install file is still there (wasn’t wiped after Mac install).

Also noted this in the Amazon product description (but doesn’t address two platforms):
Install and activate on up to five computers owned by you (at home or at work) and only to prepare, print and/or e-file your own federal and state taxes.

The great deal was still active as of 0400 today 12/28. So it didn’t expire at midnight FWIW but IME the window is usually short (a few days, not weeks) and it will expire abruptly.

Interesting issue with Amazon, it would fail verifying my credit card when purchasing TurboTax. Worked around it by using the same credit card to add to my gift card balance then purchased using my gift balance.

Got mine as well.

Kinda funny how Turbotax is a download, but they are sending a physical card for the gift card. Almost like they hope you misplace it and never use it:D

I always wonder that too. My email showed the picture of the delivery of the gift card to my front door at 4:31 AM this morning and there it was. Not sure how much it costs for delivering a $10 gift card like this. They must send out a lot from the distribution center. I know the regular prime delivery happens anywhere from about 9 AM until 9 PM.

It sure seems like a no-brainer that Amazon should have just added a $10 credit to your Amazon account, rather than physically ship a card. It's not like they don't know your account number.

Or just have a $10 off deal, no gift at all, but I suspect someone likes to track how the gift is spent.

I've never understood their scheme (though it could be ***), but it's the same as $10 off for us since we're Amazon customers anyway. And it would be less expensive to just give a digital gift card, I really can't imagine why they insist on delivering a physical gift card. But their choice...

*** And I would MUCH rather have a $10 Amazon gift card than a $10 Intuit credit, so Costco and all the other competitors are all no go's for me. YMMV

I've read that something like 3-5% of gift cards are never redeemed. That's a lot of money.

That's crazy - but I am not doubting your statement...

Thanks Joe, that’s the one!

+1!

Last year, thanks to this forum, I got hip to the fact that it was cheaper to cancel my Intuit subscription, and buy TT from Amazon each year. That saved me quite a bit, though I bought it in late January and missed the special deal by a month. This year, I vowed to get the special deal. I only saw this thread this morning, and feared I had missed it, but not so. Just downloaded TT Deluxe + State this morning, 12/28. Like others, I wasn't expecting the $10 gift card to be physical, but I'll take it in any form.

Muchas gracias!

With a $10 Amazon Gift Card you have to come back to Amazon to use it -- chances are you'll use it on a much more expensive item than the measly $10.

With $10 off of the price of TT -- it's Goodbye and Good Luck !!

Looks like the $10 gift card is no longer available.
I was busy all day yesterday and didn't have a chance to check this thread. Oh well, I still got TT Premier for $64.99

Thanks Joe for the notice.

Amazon doesn't mess around with the $10 teaser, then pulling the offer :(.

I got it 90 minutes ago, and the offer is still active at this end, as of 11:15am Pacific time.
EDIT - The gift card is still available, but I just realized that the prices are $10 more than they were yesterday. Still way better than ordering it directly from Intuit though.

I've tracked this thread recently but I am a bit lost on the status of the best deal for TurboTax Deluxe Desktop (Federal and State), the PC download version. Usually the best price on Amazon has been on December 28, today, with a $10 gift card. Admittedly I have too many irons in the fire this week. Is the general consensus that today is the best deal, no gift card. Or are people still expecting the $10 gift card to appear yet this year? As others have noted, in my recent experience, the best price is usually shortly after Christmas, not before Christmas and never after the end of the year. Thanks.

Tranquility Base - I think the best price was yesterday, one day only. As of this morning, the price was $10 more than yesterday, though the gift card was still available.

The $10 gift card and the lowest price was yesterday, evidently the low price is still available now but without the gift card. I knew that deal would be short lived. IIRC that deal will come again, maybe when Costco offers their best deal - late Jan/early Feb I think? If you can wait. FWIW

I bought Premier at $64.99, effectively $54.99 after gift card yesterday (thanks to Joe). It's $64.99 today, was $72.99 Black Friday/Cyber Mon and $82.99 for the weeks in-between. You have to be quick to catch the really low windows. Deluxe moves in tandem with Premier IME.

Thank you Midpack and Major Tom. I did check the price yesterday, several times. But I didn't notice the gift card. I'll go ahead and order it without the gift card this afternoon.

Rummaging through my junk drawer I found a few $10 star bucks gift cards (we don't go there) and a couple completely unused, expired coupon books i bought for the local youth sports coffers...

BUT I did NOT find my $50 Dick's sporting goods gift card. I'm wondering if I didn't regift that one.

I got the physical gift card delivered today. I always thought maybe they did it so you could regift it to someone maybe getting them a new customer though I rather struggle to imagine anyone hasn't shopped there. Perhaps only irregularly though.

Yes, I saw that too. I opted for TT without the gift card for $64.99

I looked at Fidelity, my credit Union, Amazon, etc. Gave up. Paid the $89 for online TurboTx Premiere because I wanted to see real 2023 1040 projected tax forms in December. No regrets.
