    Silly Frugality?

Thanks to this site I cut every dryer sheet into 3. Seems like such a waste to use a whole one.

    Clogged HP ink cartridges

We leave our HP printer in our winter home for up to 7 months at a time through the hot summer months. When we arrive in the fall and need the printer I wipe the cartridge jets with a wet paper towel. The first page smears a bit but it is good for the season if it prints every 2 - 3 weeks. The...

    Some thoughts: 6 months in

5 weeks in: OMG this is awesome! Hiking almost every day, lost close to 10 lbs, days go by incredibly fast - but it doesn't matter because tomorrow is another day off  DW said today she can't believe it's forever. We are in our California [-]vacation[/-] home and are missing a foot of...

Any advice for a Tinnitus sufferer?

I have the same issue, when I was young I could not stand the horizontal hold frequency in analog televisions and often adjusted it until it was tolerable. Now I have a constant squeal, worse when I am tired or unhealthy.

    Another E-R.org Success Story

OP here. Wow! My first day of retirement was one of my fastest. The removal of w*rk stress has been instantaneous. Like most here I had it 7 days a week and often woke up stressing about something. If this is what I have to look forward to I have found nirvana! Can't wait for day 2... :)

    Another E-R.org Success Story

Today was my last day at megacorp after 38 years. My celebration lunch bbq was my last work activity, said goodbye to many I have worked with for decades and left for retirement bliss. Had a great career and left on a positive note but definitely needed a break. I found E-R.org several years...

    The bulge...[stucco repair]

I hired an experienced stucco guy who patched 3 places where the stucco had failed, one around a corner and another about 12' high. He matched the color perfectly even though it had faded, I can't see where he patched. He charged me $400.

Two-House Pendulum Swinging Back to One

We are down to 2 homes, our primary home north of the 49th and our snowbird home in California. Sold our northern lake property, the boats and all the summer cottage stuff as well. It was fantastic but too much to maintain. We love having 2 homes set up for when we arrive. Considering an ocean...

Old Cars - What Your Mileage?

2006 Hyundai Tucson, 143K. My DW bought it new several months before we met. As a car guy I was skeptical at first but it has been so reliable and good to drive that I am a believer. Nothing but oil changes and an upper rad hose. Cheap to run & insure. She still loves the AWD, sunroof and heated...

    VRBO or AirBnB

Same experience, owners have always been respectable. Have 2 friends with bad AirB&B experiences so have never tried them but as you point out it could happen with any service.

    Lost and (not) Found

'Of all the things I have lost in my life I miss my mind the most' We lost our favorite cork screw several months ago, it was used often and was always stored in the same drawer so we think it may have been inadvertently thrown in the garbage :nonono:
