What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

What a cute little guy. I am so happy for you. I volunteer with an animal rescue in Socal. It always makes me so glad to hear of an adoption. He looks so smart and inquisitive, how about considering Sherlock for his name?

What did you do today? - 2023/2024 version

Like most days, I cooked brown rice, broccoli, and chicken to take to the local animal shelter to feed the ultra skinny dogs. This homecooked stuff supplements the kibbles that the shelter provide help them get from hip bones protruding and all the ribs showing to looking like a normal dog in...

I also had the same luck buying my Skechers from Costco at $24.99. The Skechers outlet was selling the same shoes for $80.

    Inflation

To cope with rising prices, I hardly travel, eat out less, cook and eat in more, read more, and play the piano more. For fun, I just take my dog to the park for a long stroll, or play video games with my daughter.

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I have always wanted to watch Breaking Bad; heard so many good things about this series. Only one question: I am very afraid of watching anything violent so is this series about as violent as the movie Scarsface? Because I could NOT handle Scarsface so if the violence is on par with the movie...

What did you do today? - 2021 version

I had a nightmare last night. I was back at work and my team and I were totally behind in our work. I was feeling so stressed in my dream. I woke up soooooo happy that I've ER'd. I spend all day cleaning my house and doing yard work today and feeling grateful that I didn't have to go back to...

Poll: FIRE funds to cover monthly costs come from?

Not yet eligible for Social Security so living expenses all come from taxable accounts at Vanguard withdrawing dividends and capital gains only, not drawing down capital. Only enough to cover expenses and leave the rest reinvested in the same fund/ETF etc.

    Poll:Vehicle habits

1). Always bought each of my vehicle brand new. Took great care of it. Drove it forever until the cost of repair is greater than its blue book value then I simply sold it to CarMax (no haggling!). Then purchase another vehicle brand new etc. As we all know, the longer we keep our vehicle...

    Do You Like Living Alone?

I love living alone. I can push the coffee table completely out of the way to turn the entire living room into one big open space to play video game tennis, boxing, bowling, etc. I can have a podcast playing in the background while I fold my laundry, do the dishes, etc. I can binge watch...

    Good Things about Being Retired

Completely agree with you. I have a dog now in ER; she lives a great life, multiple walks and play sessions at the parks and the dog beach. It makes me sad thinking of the dogs we had (they're in Rainbow Bridge now) back when we worked long hours.

    It's Wednesday weigh ins! 2007-2022

Gained some Covid weight. I am going to blame Covid for the 5-lbs weight gain. Will be more careful with food. I need to eat less sweets. Weighed in today at 139. Pre-Pandemic I was at 133.4. In March, I bought several tins of various kinds of chocolates and cookies. Did not want to...

What did you do today? - 2020 version

Had a small breakfast. Tried to keep the portion small since I put on some weight due to staying at home more since the Pandemic. Practiced the piano. Machine washed a load of laundry, hung clothes on a line to dry in the sun. Spoiled my dog and cat. Another very pleasant day in ER.
