Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

Don't know if this post belongs here, but........I was in a store ready to buy toilet paper. (I am loyal to a certain brand.) The 9 roll package was $22. The 12 roll package was $20 !!! I looked at the pricing twice, but that's what it said. How could the 12 rolls be cheaper than the 9...

    Looking at Aetna or AARP/UHC

Husband and I have had Aetna for our Medicare supplemental insurance for 4 or 5 yrs (don't know exactly), but we haven't had any problem with them covering almost everything that wasn't covered by Medicare. We haven't had any major surgeries, but have visited the E.R., met with numerous doctors...

do you weigh your high school weight?

I remember the weight I entered on the form for my driver's license application at the age of 16. I consistently weight 5 to 7 pounds LESS that that in my 6 years of retirement. During my working years and child raising years, I was often a good 10 pounds heavier than that 16-year-old weight...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

When I want to print off some report or financial information and I come across a blank page with the notation "This page intentionally left blank." Doesn't cause me any real problem, but the fact that 'they' do that just irks me. Why do they bother to include a page that has nothing on it...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Pet Peeve of the Day........for the last couple years, early in December, Target has a day or two on which you can buy Target gift cards on-line for 10% off. For a few years I buy gift cards during that time for my great nieces and nephews. Last year I got the cards, but no envelopes to put...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Don't know if this goes here as a pet peeve but.........Got groceries today at a big box store. Went to the self-check-lane as we find we don't like waiting in a long line for someone else to check us out. I'm okay with that. But as soon as I pulled my cart along side the check-out station, a...

Confession of a Failed Steps Addict

On another forum, I just saw an ad for Brooks running shoes. It says something like "turn your 9.99k steps into 10k." And then it shows a man running around his kitchen table !!!

Confession of a Failed Steps Addict

......you can catch me a couple nights a week pacing around the house to get those final steps in for the day. I've worn out or lost a couple Omron pedometers and have recently started using an Ozo Fitness pedometer......only because I couldn't find the exact Omron I've used in the past. Yup...

Confession of a Failed Steps Addict

I am a spreadsheet geek and "steps" are one of my daily postings. Been doing that for a couple years. It keeps me moving and motivated. Yes, sometimes it feels like I'm a little over the top keeping daily track......but it works for me. I'm over 70 and feel like my daily walking is just part...

    Tipping

Just got home from a week's vacation in Clearwater. I am SOOOO over having to tip everyone for everything. We usually tip at restaurants and bars. But I got to thinking about this one bar situation. It was a really small bar. We ordered drinks. She only had to take one or two steps to...

What do you take for migraines?

Used to take Zomig but the insurance decided not to cover it unless I had tried and failed with taking cheaper drugs. I now take Sumatriptan too. It works. My migraines have decreased significantly as I've gotten older.

    RSV vaccine side effects?

As for insurance coverage....it may vary. We had appointments yesterday for all 3 vaccines at Walgreens. Pharmacist said husband's were ALL covered by insurance. For me, my insurance would only cover Flu and Covid at Walgreens, BUT the insurance would cover the RSV vaccine at CVS. So we got...

Medicare Part D changes for 2024

Interesting conversations here. Thanks for all the information on Part D. Met with our insurance dude today. He ran our drugs through the Medicare site. Ended up suggesting we both change to Wellcare based on the results.

    Global Entry Changes

I've thought abut applying for the Global Entry after our last visit to a relative in the Philippines a couple years ago. Finally got serious about it early this week. I spent most of one day filling out the applications for me and spouse. Rec'd an e-mail that we were conditionally approved...

    Shorthand!

I took shorthand as a high school course. I really liked it. All of us "girls" enjoyed the class, partly because we could write things fast, could write what others couldn't decipher, and of course, because the teacher was pretty, and cool, and fashionable, and made us feel good as young...

Mother's Long Term Care Insurance Company Giving Me the Run Around

But if your Mother passes away while you are fighting against these denials......wouldn't they still have to pay the covered expenses up to that point??? It wouldn't seem like her passing would absolve the insurance company from rightfully covered expenses that are submitted on her behalf...

Update on Cord Cutting (Cable TV) - 2021 version

Thank you to those who commented on my question about Hulu and it's price difference. You are SO correct. We currently have HULU+ Live. The package Verizon was offering was HULU, not HULU +. I didn't notice the difference until your responses pointed that out. When I really looked at it, I...

Update on Cord Cutting (Cable TV) - 2021 version

I have had HULU for a couple years. The current cost is $74.99/month. Verizon Wireless is offering a new plan to me that will give me HULU for $10. My question is in what order do I make the change. Do I change to the new phone plan and sign up for HULU through them first. And once that is...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

I read a lot, and so I often look at book descriptions on the Internet or Facebook. Difficult to believe that EVERY single book is a best seller, or 'the best book I've ever read', or 'you won't be able to put it down', or 'I stayed up all night to finish it'. Maybe just describe it and add...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

My Pet Peeve for the moment is food companies who put their product in an odd shaped jar or container that can't be easily cleaned out when it gets down to the last bit. I recently changed my allegiance from one salsa brand to another due to my struggle to get the last tablespoon or so out of...
