2023 Investment Performance Thread

On our Schwab portfolio with an AA of 65/35 equity/fixed income we are..

YTD +4.89% ending January
YTD +3.34% ending February
YTD +5.50% ending March
YTD +6.18% ending April
YTD +6.34% ending May
YTD +11.06% ending June

As of 1-Jul-23 for our Total Portfolio, we are + 8.01% from 1-Jan-23.

Current Asset Allocation is approximately 53% Equities, 31% Bonds, 16% Cash.

11.8% ~65/35 for me.
16.79% S&P 500

As a comparison a 60/40 portfolio would be 11.07% if invested in S&P 500 and 5% fixed income return.

Calculation: 16.79%*.6+5%*.4/2

Up about $350,000 from January. As of this morning new 1 year and YTD highs. Above my retirement date portfolio value almost 3 years ago including taking out 3 years of six figure expenses.

We are still down about 10% from market highs.

We have been living off cash reserve as part of our SOR plan. I’d like it at least another 10 + 4 = 14%, to not pull more cash reserve. Even more would be nice - I’d split above 14% - half remain invested, other half rebuild cash reserve…

Schwab +7.2%
Fidelity +4.7%
Compared to others here apparently I'm way to conservative.

+18.43% on self managed money largely due to APPLs' overperformance. A small account of play money not included in the 18.43 is up 119%, it's still down. [emoji848]

47% Bond index Funds. +2%
47% Stock Index Funds. +16%

My exposure to small caps ( IWM) and Emerging markets ( SCHE) hurt me some

6.98% YTD for 50/50 balanced portfolio - American Funds American Balanced R6 RLBGX benchmark

Should hit the all-time high by the end of this year.

The only reliable number I have is net worth (less home price). Mine peaked in August of 2022 and we are off about .84% from there. That's OK since we've been withdrawing 4% a month this year. Roughly 60% equities.

I may have made a mistake. Some time ago I decided to go from 95% equity / 5% cash to 85% index etf / 15% fixed income (CDs). So I'm only up 15.6% YTD / 17.9 % 1 yr / 2.07% over 2 yrs. Who knows where I'd be if I just stayed put

My YTD investment performance is "sufficient" in the context of my financial goals and risk tolerance.
