No one has disclosed name, address, SS #, DOB. What harm can this do?

Geez, Wab, make up your mind.wab said:I don't want to be a party pooper (OK, I really do), but I hope that many of you realize that you may be indirectly disclosing your net worth. For example, if you have previously posted what the value of your home or car is, it's a straight-forward calculation to get your net worth from your post in this thread.
I think he has a light bulb stuffed down there... and not a compact fluorescent, either...wab said:Look, there goes the Porsche-driving Millionaire Mensa-member dude in his boxers!
Personally, I enjoy it. I just don't particularly understand it. Carry on!
Yeah, we could easily catch the CFB & C-T syndrome, but who has the time?Jarhead* said:Nords: With a net worth of $4,000,000 or so, health insurance covered, I think you can afford to buy a couple of new cars.
Gosh, what would we use to benchmark a govt pension with a COLA? TIPS? I bonds? Some other 30-year bonds?justin said:And did Nords capitalize the value of his military pension in his NW calculation? Hmmm... another mystery...

Want2retire said:I don't even look like a millionaire on the web! Agh, woe is me. But I am planning to retire in three years, and so far, everything is turning out exactly as planned, or better.
Sam said:Definitely not my ego. But I see your point. Well put!
Me neither. Not everyone needs to be a millionaire in order to retire.
SteveR said:The point I was trying to make was anybody can make up anything and no one can refute it. So, anyone can look like a millionaire....even if they are not.
Want2retire said:You're right. Still, it boggles the mind to imagine someone SO insecure, that they would actually make up stuff to look like a millionaire to a message board full of people that they don't even know in real life and probably never will.
I tend to take most of these people at face value, especially those who admit to being over 50. After all, if someone has decided to create an imaginary net worth, might as well make oneself 27 or so at the same time.
We'll have to check back with you on this in a year or so when the new-poster process has worked through a few more of that ilk.Want2retire said:You're right. Better still, volunteer to be a moderator-- it'll only take a few months!
