I vote for an 8 gig USB memory stick--or two.
THEN, try to collect things together and make zip files that will fit onto a single CD at a time. Some zip programs--I forget which--will span disks, so you can just keep feeding CDs in until the whole thing is backed up. You need to use a Sharpie to number the disks and date them.
I have read that CDs sometimes don't last forever, either. \
