I have always thought this also, but since my SS check is linked to DW's SS account (spousal), my Medicare# was changed to reflect her SS #, not mine. When we jump back to mine when I hit age 70, I assume that my Medicare # will jump back to a reflection of my SS# at that time. Must make sense to someone...
