OP:Are you the one who asked the other day about this IRT a PSA test?
It appears nobody here is familiar with this particular "Berkley (sp?) test. When I searched for it, I came up empty. Did your doc give you any information about it at all, except that it was expensive?

It's to test cholesterol to see if you have large fat or small fat cells. That is supposed to tell the Dr. if your excreting the large fat or absorbing small fat particles that clogs your arteries. My wife and I have been hit with so many tests lately I am confused on what I am getting for what and when. Think most of these tests are either money making scams or the lawyers have the Dr.'s scared. Might be why health insurance is so high.
Sounds like your doc may be referring to the NMR LipoProfile test. It's not about "fat cells" but rather the size/number of your LDL cholesterol particles. Most labs should be able to get it for you.
