Brain Fog - DW had one today .. scary memory lapse

A friend had similar symptoms (forgot very recent conversations and events) along with absence seizures when we were in our 30s. Her mother was a nurse and took her immediately to the ER.

I hope your DW has a good outcome. Keep us posted.

Thank you so much guys. Still at the hospital but we spoke to the neurologists and it was not a mini stroke or TIA or Alzheimer’s ... she did Catscan and MRI .. the specialist concluded it was Transient Global Amnesia. But she’s recovered now, so all is well. Thanks again for the help and all your spiritual support.

Thank goodness she will be OK. My heart goes out to both of you. I remember how I felt when my wife had her brain injury.

Glad it doesn't appear to be anything serious, but good on you two checking it checked out quickly.

Scary nonetheless, but from what I've read the likelihood of a recurrence is low, as is TGA's effect on mortality.

All in all, great news!

Thanks for letting us know all is OK now. All good wishes that it stays that way!

Thanks. She’s not on statin or any cholesterol meds. The doc also asked her. Guess it was stress since her niece has some problems and got the news the night before
Stress can cause them. At least that's what a nuerologist told me. Glad she is ok.

She might not remember anything. Don't push her, it can be confusing after.

I interviewed a guy during mine and then lost my mind to a TGA. A couple days later I had the same interview with him again. As he answered the same questions I remembered the prior discussion, but it's not always like that. Another co-w*rker had the same thing, he remembered nothing.

Glad to hear they didn't find anything serious. How old is your DW? Could she have a urinary tract infection? (though I assume they did blood work at the ER) In older folks UTIs can cause confusion, etc., and can mimic dementia.

I never heard of TGA before, or maybe I did and forgot ;)

However, the definitions I read basically say doctors don't know what causes it. But giving it a label makes folks feel better, rather than saying "I don't know why it happened".

Glad all’s well.... I swear I might have had mini TGA while on pravastatin, got silly stupid sometimes!!!!!!

She’s 67.

Hope your Dear Wife is on the same schedule for recurrence as mine...
Every 25 years.

Glad everthing is ok...

Please have her see a neuro dr. asap (like yesterday).

Not to scare you even more but my late husband had a very aggressive brain tumor (glioblastoma) and would not recall a conversation we had minutes prior.

As the cancer progressed it got notably worse, When we sat in the neurosurgeon's office prior to treatment...he mentioned watching a platypus on the television in the waiting room.

There was no television in the waiting room.

As the others mentioned it could also be a TIA (we have experience with that as well) :( which also warrants immediate attention.

Infections in an aging person can bring around strange behaviors - my grandmother used to get really bitchy when she had a UTI. My mother gets forgetful with the same dx but she's poorly and 77.

There are too many scenarios that need looking after but would definitely start with a neuro and work backwards from there.
