Give me a museum and I'll fill it. (Picasso) Give me a forum ...
OP - thanks for posting, this is one club I don't want to join
The big problem is the folks who get mild symptoms and don't bother to get tested thinking it's just a cold or allergies, so they continue to go about their business and expose everyone they come in contact with.
I'm seeing multiple post-vaccination cases per week in urgent care. I'm quite sure the real number is far higher exactly because of all the people who don't bother to get tested when they get sick. There are also patients who do come in but refuse testing.
If you get any symptoms at all, get tested, or at the very least, quarantine for 10 days. Don't just assume it's not COVID and be out and about sharing it with dozens of others.
USG, if I understand correctly your wife never got Covid....did you guys employ prevention at all.
Can we not post media stories in this thread please? This thread was started by the OP to share personal stories.
Prior threads in this forum have been closed due to arguments/excessive commentary over media coverage. And it easily becomes a distraction.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I suspect my older son (not the one traipsing through Europe, the one who works at a grocery store) may have a break through infection... He has a sore throat. No other symptoms... but he works with others (he's masked). He is waiting to get tested till his employer says he has to. I'm telling him to get tested now, regardless.
Breakthrough - while I was typing this he sent me a text saying he'd get tested. YAY.
Hi harlleeFor those of you getting test, where are you getting this done? The health department testing centers seemed to have closed down in my area. Are you getting tested at a pharmacy? I have some of the home test kits but a forum member who is a doctor says they are unreliable.
Around here, every urgent care offers testing for symptomatic patients, and some also test asymptomatic folks too. CVS does testing. I think some other pharmacies do too. Our urgent care also offers telehealth evals and if the provider feels you need a test, they can send you to a physical location where they just do a drive up swab. At least around here, you have many options for where to get tested. For those of you getting test, where are you getting this done? Hope he's OK and if it's Covid he recovers quickly..but talk about unfair, the one working away at home might be sick and the gadabout is out just having fun.. I hope your traveling son stays safe and Covid free...
The absence of factual information from events, meant to not alarm the public, means I have no idea if I had a good change of possibly being exposed so I'm not going to get tested.

One nice think about being retired, is that we can just stay home when sick (whether it is a cold, flu, or even possibly very mild COVID). I know most people probably don't take advantage of our retirement to do that, but we do.The big problem is the folks who get mild symptoms and don't bother to get tested thinking it's just a cold or allergies, so they continue to go about their business and expose everyone they come in contact with.
Not sure what the rationale is for you not getting tested. If you are not sure it is covid you got, isn't testing allow you to know for sure? Why care some population stats?
If you are on a cruise, you are exposed. It is pretty simple. Unless you stay outside and keep social distancing throughout the whole trip which I don't think anyone does that.
Thanks to all for reporting your experiences. We have been fortunate indeed but it is good to hear how it went for some, and also the testing information. Super cool to have a box of tests, Alan.
Nieces husband in UK was fully Pfizer vaccinated a couple months ago. Three weeks ago he caught COVID-19 likely from his workmate. Passed it to his 3 year old daughter and unvaccinated pregnant wife.
He had relatively mild symptoms - fever, tired etc. 3 year old had same symptoms. Pregnant niece had it worse. Was hospitalized, had low blood oxygen levels. Was given various steroids and had to call Dr 3x per day to report status once she came out.
Happily they all recovered and baby due Thursday ??
I’ll get the booster when it’s available to me early December.
i had cold symptoms same as you describe for same amount of time about a month ago, after attended an indoor music event. Another member of our party had same symptoms.
Never tested so who knows?
