Daughter Considering Eloping Over Traditional Full Blown Wedding

Not quite eloping but I was in the Army stationed in Germany. Brought my fiancé over to Germany and we got married by the German version of Justice of the Peace. Later, had a small Christian ceremony at the on-base Chapel with members of my unit (my Commander "gave away" the bride. I think he was tickled pink to do the honors). This year will be our 38th Wedding Anniversary!

Weddings are stressful for everyone, there is always family drama that erupts.
The choice should be theirs and theirs alone. Personally I think eloping and saving the money for something they want or need is a far better choice.

If they do not mind missing out on some gifts, than eloping will save them a huge amount of stress. I would elope if I could do it over again. Not worth all the worry
