I'm one of 13 beneficiaries of my uncle's estate. Last week there was a distribution that was sent via certified mail with return receipt but with no insurance. Everyone else got their check but mine never arrived. I called the executor and after several days got him to see if the check had been cashed. Luckily it had not, payment was stopped, and a new check will be issued.
My question is what if the check had been cashed? Whose responsibility would this have been? Would I just have been out the money unless I could recover it? Or would it have been up to the executor?
