Gifting from a joint/trust account

Let's say my DW and I want to gift our adult child $10K from each of us for 2021, for a total of $20K. Do we each need to write a check for $10K from our joint/trust bank account, or can one of us just write a single check for $20K? Seems like it wouldn't matter, but with the IRS, I am not so certain.

What kind of trust?

I would document the intention so it is clear. writing multiple checks could do the decimation.

I would write 2 checks to make it clear to everyone years from now.
