porn-ish hen - a curvy hen complete with silicone breasts and a beak (beek??) full of collagen.
Thanks, I'm on a diet, and I now have no appetite.

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

Well, I think we reached the point for someone to post that we're an example of why someone shouldn't ER. :D

How's the saying go?

An idle mind is the devil's porn site?

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

I think I might of scared Brew a wee bit with my Subaru and that :-*.

By the way Brew, even I find it hard to look at your quote signature.
How about classing it up a little, with a line from a Frank Zappa song?
"My Love is a Harley, you kick it start". I really didn't like that Fight Club movie, too much violence.

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

We'll see on the sig. Gotta come across a good one first, but I'll keep an eye out.

Well, who am I to judge, and by the way I didn't really mean that :-* :)

I'm going to go out on a limb on this, but from 25 years of child rearing - 2 boys and a girl and using completely unsupported unscientific measures...I'm going to say girls require more maintenance. I love each all the same and gladly pay whatever bills. Just my 2 cents. :D
Appreciate any comments on this topic only. Please, I ask all those wahoos, wagbs and other rats to keep your thoughts on a high level. Thank you. Good night and good luck.

By the way, I was talking about my lawnmower.

I'm only posting this to make a correction where I see an error being made.
I'm not really lowering myself to this level of discourse, as everyone knows there's a serious topic waiting to be discussed.

Ya, sure.

To the topic at hand, I have three grown children, two boys 25 & 24 boys(24 year old is an Army Ranger serving this country), and a 17 year old girl. I will agree, girls cost more money. There's make-up, cool clothes, hair, female products, more toilet paper usage (I'm NOT elaborating on this one, figure it out yourself), telephone yaking (more cell minutes) , proms, you name it. I feel like an ATM machine sometimes. I never felt like this with my boys.

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

Army Ranger? Crap! If he figures out where some of us live, we are in for a but-wupping for harrasing his mom!:bat:

Right. I'll just talk about one area. Preparing for college. First the trip with DD to Target to get supplies for personal products.
Dad - do you really need all that? Can't it be generic? - $150
Next day trip to target with DS. Dad - Are you sure you don't want shampoo or toothpaste or soap? Are you sure there's nothing else I can get you? - $50.

Same here. One son and 2 daughters. The daughters were more
expensive by a huge margin.

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

So, what's the solution? Should I raise my girl as a boy? Or send her to a nunnery when puberty hits? How do you hedge your girly risks?

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

I agree. My daughter is way more expensive than my son. There are more dances than just the prom. Don't forget the homecoming dance and the band dance also! Even though I say that she is more expensive, she is not as expensive as alot of girls. She does not shop at the most expensive stores or buy the huge amount of clothes that some girls do. She knows that she can't get away with it, since I am her mother.

Re: Girls Cost More than Boys to Raise

So far, we've been lucky on the clothes expense. She gets hand-me-downs from her 4-year-old fashionable cousin. I'm hoping we can keep the same deal going for the next 16 years.

Other than day care, expenses have been very small. Between Baby shower Christmas, and her first birthday, we haven't had to buy one item of clothing or one toy (even when we wanted a toy she didn't have, we had gift cards we haven't used yet.)-all I can say is, thank GOODNESS for good health insurance, she's already racked up half a mil in hospital stays! But both that and day care are gender neutral.
