I didn't begin watching TOS until the mid-1970s when it was syndicated on a local NY station (WPIX, Channel 11). It remained on WPIX well into the 1980s.
I didn't know there were some scenes which were cut for time until I stumbled onto a Scranton-Wilkes-Barre TV station (channel 44) which showed 3 straight episodes each week, uncut and w/o commercials, in a row. I had to play with my parents' VCR to pull in the station, but it was great being able to watch 3 episodes with some new scenes, all for the first time, in just over 2 hours.
I didn't like TNG at the beginning because of a few episodes I thought were terrible, so it wasn't until its second season when I became a regular viewer and was able to catch up on the first season's episodes.
DS9 I was into most of its run although near the end I was barely interested in watching it.
Voyager I also got tired of before its run was done, so I never saw the last few seasons of it. I didn't see any of the later stuff.
As for the movies, I liked the first few, especially ST:III, The Search for Spock. I saw that one on its opening day in early June of 1984 at a midtown Manhattan theater. That was a blast! The audience was cheering at a preview for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I remember yelling out, "Beam Me Up, Scotty!" when Doohan's name appeared in the opening credits. I was losing interest in the last few TOS-cast movies but did see some of the TNG-cast movies.
In the last few months, I found a cable TV network called Heroes and Icons which airs a TOS and TNG episode (and DS9 and Voyager) episode 6 nights a week. They are uncut but I am enjoying the recently, digitally remastered special effects, mostly the outer space scenes. My favorite episode, "The Doomsday Machine," has a lot of them.
I attended 2 conventions in the 1980s, one in New York and the other in Dallas. Nichelle Nichols appeared in the Dallas one and told us some good stories about making the movies.
