Hard drive crashed - advice

I’m going to try one last search for a local person that may be able to try a recovery for a more reasonable price. After that, I might try SpinRite. I’d try the freezer thing, but it doesn’t seem practical. It takes about 5 hours to run a backup. I wouldn’t be able to that if I crashes every 45 minutes. I might try grabbing all the files in an orderly fashion, but that is a last resort and may not ever happen except as the last resort and just for experimentation/fun.
