You do know that unless the "Barkeep" is the owner when they give you a free round or a generous pour they are most often stealing from their employer.

Many bar owners do set up "comping policy" for their bartenders which might give them some leeway, within a defined set of rules or maximum monetary value per shift. As long as they stay within those guidelines, it's not stealing.
