A family friend who is 66 years old and recently diagnosed with colon cancer. He is currently employed with medical coverage and currently taking FMLA. He is enrolled in Medicare part A right before turning 65.
According to this: https://www.medicare.gov/sign-up-change-plans/how-do-i-get-parts-a-b/part-a-part-b-sign-up-periods, he should be able to enroll in part B without the enrollment penalty.
I also surmise that he should be able to get supplemental insurance without being denied for having cancer as he is within the qualified period.
Did I get this right? Also, any additional information provided would be much appreciated as I try to help him navigate through this.
