Poll: When will the Fed start lowering interest rate

Sometime before the November election.

I am starting to believe that the coming election will force the Feds hand to lower rates.

I put 2025 but it might be after that....


There is no reason to lower rates even if they get inflation under control... the economy is humming along at the current rates and will probably do so for awhile...

Likely higher for longer but chose 2025 since there were no choices beyond that.

It really depends on whether a recession shows up. The Fed will be more aggressive about lowering rates if it looks like we are entering a recession.

+1. All these guesses are [-]pointless[/-] just that, guesses. The Fed will react to economic factors as always. If the economy tanks, they'll cut aggressively and quickly. If we have slow moving recession, less so. I'd have to believe how much deficit they finance will also factor in, forcing rates up to sell more bills/notes/bonds.

I don't know when - I voted 3Q I think.

I do think that they'll wait too long and will drop it rapidly when they realize they're behind the curve.

I don't know how much the election will affect the timing of things. I suspect rather little personally.

I suspect rather a lot, which is why I don't think any increases are in order and will start to ratchet down starting summer 2024.
