Anyone here have Punctal Plugs inserted for dry eyes? Did they help? I checked the Medicare website and found no mention of whether they are covered.

I tried them over a decade ago. I was staring at a screen 10+ hours a day and always wore contacts instead of glasses. My eyes were extremely dry, they watered uncontrollably at night when I took my contacts out. The ophthalmologist put them in and two days later I was back to have them taken out. They were just very uncomfortable for me. I ended up switching my contact solution and wearing my contacts fewer hours per day. Retirement/not staring at a screen all day helps, too.

This was back in 2008ish, so maybe they make them more comfortable now. Sorry you are dealing with dry eye; it's not fun.

I had them for several months. One kept getting irritated, the other wouldn’t stay in. Since it did seem to help with dryness, eye doc ended up cauterizing the tear ducts. Downside is uncontrollable watering in certain conditions.
