There has been a lot of press about taking the credit for the retired excise tax on telephones as a credit on taxes for 2006, but I'm a bit confused as to the limits.
It seems to apply to both long distance carriers and local companys, and has some variability around # of exemptions. But, if you have multiple phones (land line, cell phones (2)) and multiple LD carriers (metro LD and LD), is the credit more then the frequently mentioned $60. I know that you can add up your actual bills for the last three years... but I really haven't kept that kind of detail.

i believe it's 30/single, 60/married ... and those are your only options unless you can dig-out the actual numbers

correction: it's based on the number of exemptions
1- $30
2- $40
3 -$50
4 or more - $60

Thanks, thought it was too good to be true for the gummint to actually take into account more then a single line.
