Maybe because of the holiday?

Checked my end of quarter allocations. Despite the ups and downs, not need to adjust my contest allocations. I'm sitting comfortably in 12th place :cool:.

I checked two sources for holidays and didn't see any on March 28-30. How does one check for holidays these days?
 
I just googled "nyse calandar" and good friday showed-up.
 
I searched for 2018 holidays and got a federal and court holiday list plus I checked my calendar. So, I'll make sure I add Good Friday to this. Anything else I should add?

I seem to remember Boho claiming to outperform especially in down markets.

Are the markets down enough already?

Is anyone else enjoying that Fermion is both in 2nd place and in next to last place currently? Beautiful symmetry :D

I think Boho claimed a lot of unique skills, which of course, is why this contest got started.

Well, to be fair, it looks like the market was down first Quarter, and nunnun is down slightly, ~ 0.8%, while Boho is up ~ 1.74%.

But when you are that far down, outperforming for a quarter doesn't get you anywhere close to the 'napping' algorithm. Boho is still ~ 12% points below nunnun.

At that rate, Boho could surpass nunnun in ~ 7 quarters. Is that before the contest ends?

I thought the contest was three years long and started a bit more than a year ago, so in theory it could be close. In practice, I'm not worried.
 
Contest ends March 29, 2020. Three years from start date.
 
I have $434,520.00 in Honeywell, a tech stock, so I could end up losing big, except it seems like practically every industry has its own problems and I think I heard bonds are managing to perform poorly at the same time as stocks. If I started considering the sector in my stock picking (which I do sometimes) I'm not sure what I'd pick these days. I'd have to research this more.
 
Boho, would you mind sharing how old you are? Just curious.
 
Now my liquidation problem is with FCNCA. I was able to buy 1200 shares at a time on Friday and now the max I could sell is around 39 after three attempts to sell, and it was my only attempted trade today so there's no cumulative thing going on. I'm not going to bother selling less than 200 at a time.

Both Fermion players and really in last or near-last place if one accounts for the fact that the simulator screwed-up; the player got away without covering his short on de-listed "KITE" stock.
 
I bought gold for the first time. I'm trying not to do too many firsts but this one seems safe. Gold has been higher than it is now pretty often in recent history and it sounds like the US and/or its allies will be bombing Syria.

Didn't US already bomb syria a year or so ago via 13 tomahawk cruise missiles after the last chemical chlorine barrel bomb attack? Did you buy gold then and what was the price..

How is this time different?

The price went up on the day of the bombing, about normal the next session, then higher.

The price was high yesterday and lower today when I bought. If there's a bombing I'd expect it to go higher and I'd sell quickly.

I didn't buy last year. I don't know if the contest was happening yet and I don't usually think about gold.
