It's probably been talked over ad nauseum here already, but I'm going throw out this response I made to another forum, just to hear from the crowd:

I will not contest that there appear to be climatic changes occurring. But you people need to spend as much time reading the contradictory evidence as you do the the tabloids.
For starters, pick up a copy of Michael Crichton's book State of Fear. No, not to read it, although it does make good reading. But in the back is a LONG list of papers and studies from which he garners his evidence. Try reading some of those papers, with an open mind.
I have done so. And about the best conclusions I can come to are these:
In conclusion, I do not support theories of global warming as a direct result of man's activities. I do accept evidence of loss of air and water quality caused by us. I hope we can do something to reverse those trends, but doubt that it will have any significant impact within my life time. Even so, I will make what small contributions I can toward this end; ie. recycling, reducing oil consumption, concentrating on renewable energy sources, and riding my bicycle more.

- The recorded history of temperatures is not conclusive that there is along term increase in temperature.[/*]
- The 200 years of actual recorded weather records are completely insufficient, in relation to the span of the planet's geologic life cycle, to draw long term conclusions.[/*]
- Ice core samples are only indicative of atmospheric conditions at the time the snow was laid down. They tell us nothing of temperature. That's "educated guesswork" at best.[/*]
- Any conclusions drawn from the available evidence is easily skewed to reflect the desired outcome of the person purporting to have all the answers.[/*]
- Mankind's ability to control this planet and it's natural cycles is unlikely to be significant. The planet is going to continue on it's path, with or without us.[/*]
- Prevailing knowledge has been known to be wrong before. 500 years ago everyone knew the world was flat.[/*]
- We don't KNOW what's happening. There are a bunch of people making wild guesses and sensationalist claims to get more money to support themselves and their "research".[/*]
- The truth is it's all a bunch of homo-centric hooey because we delude ourselves into thinking we are the pinnacle of evolution, when in reality we just aren't that significant.[/*]
- Mankind has a clearly demonstrated ability to destroy. Unfortunately, we haven't shown much of an ability to preserve or repair.[/*]
