OP indicated having elders to take care of. Sometimes the people we care for have medical and a lifestyle cost that exceeds your own. If that is a significant issue, you might consider having a finance talk with the individuals you are supporting.

The first step IMO is to take steps towards reducing expenses. Start with the biggest and start trimming. As mentioned above, Unless you do have a lot set aside for retirement, SS isn’t going to cover enough to maintain a 200K lifestyle.

I think when you hit your 50's, the daily grind of 9 to 5 life really starts to wear on you. Definitely does for me!

It did for me the last few months when in my mid 50's, except it was 6:30-6:00. Nevertheless, I was started wondering for the first time, how many more years can I do this?
